Alright guys, so lately, I've been visiting Wikizilla, and lately on one particular thread here, a few individuals have been making some incredibly ludicrous claims, mainly that.......

At the end of the DEATH BATTLE, Godzilla absorbed the Mana Beam, wasn't bleeding but actually letting loose some kind of "aura", and that he grew in size inexplicably.

Can you BELIEVE the ridiculous nature of these claims? SERIOUSLY.

Did you watch the Death Battle? Godzilla did grow in size inexplicably. It was kinda stupid. He was also bleeding, though.

Unless it's a major animation flaw, Godzilla did grow in size after being blasted by the Ultimate Mana Blast. He looks far more than 20 meters taller than Gamera at the end and is also considerably wider in build. Godzilla doesn't absorb Mana, but he can feed on plasma just as he feeds on radiation and Gamera's Ultimate Mana Blast contains both Mana and plasma. Godzilla must have absorbed plasma from the attack to grow in size and power up his spiral red heat beam to destroy Gamera.

And why would such a feat have been possible? No where was it observed Godzilla could grow inexplicably larger from absorbing anything other than nuclear energy, nor has he ever been seen absorbing plasma, as he never fed on the plasma power plant in Godzilla X Megaguirus. As said before, he does possess the Spiral Ray, and doesn't need to power it up, since after he gains it, he can use it on his own as seen in the Heisei series.

Godzilla is nearly 30 meters taller than Gamera, and he was standing straighter than normal in the end part. If he did grow in size, then it should've been mentioned as a feat beforehand, which it wasn't. I've never seen Godzilla growing bigger from plasma consumption, nor even plasma consumption to begin with.

Godzilla was not standing up any straighter at the end. He was still leaning his head down as he was rising behind Gamera. Besides, he appeared nearly twice the size of Gamera towards the end, not just 30 meters taller. He was also much wider than Gamera as well. Godzilla standing slightly straighter is not going to suddenly make him wider and twice Gamera's size.

And what is this insistence that every move must be mentioned in the analysis? ScrewAttack never mentioned that Godzilla survived a black hole or that both monsters are capable of breathing in space. It's also a known fact that Godzilla can increase in size from exposure to more of an energy source. Since this is a composite version of Godzilla, he has the ability to feed on plasma like the Godzilla vs. Megaguirus incarnation and the ability to grow from feeding on his food source like the Heisei incarnation.

Godzilla cannot use the spiral beam at will, he needs some kind of external power. In Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2, he needed Rodan's life force. In Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, he absorbed energy that was being emitted by SpaceGodzilla. In Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, Godzilla was in critical mass, giving him substantially more power than usual. In Final Wars, Godzilla needed a transfusion of Keizer energy to tap into the spiral ray.

Never was there an instance where Godzilla was shown feeding on plasma, since he merely attacked the plasma power plant in Godzilla vs. Megaguirus. As well, he was never shown being capable of growing larger from anything other than nuclear energy, so the same assumption being made for another energy source can't be made.

As well, even if he could absorb plasma, it wouldn't have done squat in the end, since the Mana Beam is just that. Pure Mana. An energy source never even mentioned in Godzilla's continuity, thus meaning the assumption he can absorb that can't be made either.

Then we have the whole Spiral Ray debacle. Yes, it initially comes from an external source. But lots of other abilities of characters in DEATH BATTLE came from external sources, but were allowed because they knew how to use those abilities afterwards on their own. The same goes for Godzilla.

He initially used the Spiral Ray after Fire Rodan/Ozaki gave him such power, but afterwards, could call on that power on his own, thus invalidating the argument that he wasn't supposed to able to use it, as we see that once Godzilla gains such power, he keeps it. And for his apparent size increase in the end of the DEATH BATTLE itself?

As we can see above, there is no logical bearing behind it other than either accidental animation error or purposeful animation error for effect.

By your logic, since Death Battle makes assumptions about characters' abilities by granting them the power without an external source, what would stop them from doing the same for Godzilla's growth ability? Death Battle makes assumptions about what the characters' abilities can be based on the abilities of all previous incarnations. Godzilla has never been shown to fly since Godzilla vs. Hedorah, and ScrewAttack assumed that his atomic breath would still be able to propel him at his new larger size. It can be said that it is at least possible for ScrewAttack to assume that since Godzilla can absorb energy from other enemies' attacks (King Ghidorah in GMK), grow by absorbing energy that he can feed on (the nuclear sub in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah), and since it is heavily implied that Godzilla will feed on plasma in the absence of radiation (Godzilla vs. Megaguirus), he could draw power from Gamera's Ultimate Mana Blast, causing him to increase in size and power up his hyper spiral ray.

Without drawing some energy from the attack, Gamera's Ultimate Mana Blast would have injured Godzilla too severely for him to use the spiral ray. Godzilla must not be weakened or being injured at the time he uses the spiral ray. Yes he uses it under stress, but only when he has gained the upper hand over his foe. Godzilla must have drawn some power from the Mana Blast and then used it to power up the spiral ray and avoid taking massive damage from the Mana Blast. Godzilla needed power for the spiral ray in the other instances he used it too. SpaceGodzilla was said to be emitting energy in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla just before Godzilla stood back and charged his spiral ray, and in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah Godzilla had received a massive influx of external power in the Birth Island explosion. To use the spiral ray, Godzilla must be angry or under stress, in a position to attack his foe when they are incapacitated, and imbued with power from an external source.

In DEATH BATTLE, all characters are drawn from nearly all their sources for statistics and abilities, which means any single feat or stat is applied to the overall incarnation used. However, it does mean that certain abilities, feats, etc., can't simply be used without any previous bearing. All other feats shown have historical backing, and are applied to the character as a whole. Since growth was only observed using nuclear energy, but Godzilla has never been observed actually gaining much else from other sources beyond pure energy, we can't presume the growth effect from others, nor did the DB researchers.

He couldn't draw power from the Mana Beam though, because it isn't plasma, but pure Mana, a power source that doesn't even exist in Godzilla's universe, thus he has no connection nor capability to absorb it. As well, it's been shown and analyzed that Godzilla could potentially survive the blast with as few injuries as he did.

In the example you listed for Godzilla using the Spiral Ray in Godzilla vs Space-Godzilla, there was no indication he actually absorbed any energy to use the Spiral Ray. Instead, he "powered himself up" like he did later on in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. We see the exact same effect, with no narrative or visual indication of the absorbance of energy from the movie before. Godzilla was given power, thus he maintains the power later on.

I draw these conclusions based on the lack of evidence that indicates such, and I won't presume such ideas possible unless specifically stated in some canon of the character. That basically means, within the context of this debate.......

No absorbing plasma or Mana unless stated so at some point in the Godzilla canon, and no growing bigger from anything other than nuclear energy unless stated so in the canon as well.

The battle itself is only made for entertainment. They just decide who would win and then the animators make a fight where that combatant wins. There's not any logic behind exactly how they win in the fight itself.

Well, in my opinion. Should gamera and godzilla ever fight, my money is still on godzilla. Though gamera is a very tough kaiju, i don't see plasma fire balls, mana blast, or even the flame arm doing much damage to godzilla considering that godzilla was born in the burning hellfire of an atomic bomb, although gamera doesn't seem to be bother by radiation.

It's going to be a great fight, but godzilla will come out on top.
