AdminGodzillaMar-19-2015 7:58 AMAlthough I never expect the individual movies to be celebrated in the same way as the original film, I'm of the mind that they should be. As such I'm going to be heavily promoting this diamond in the rough's 40th Anniversary. I wrote one article with a couple more planned. I'm also compiling other sites' articles that recognize this wonderful movie has turned 40.
Terror of MechaGodzilla's 40th Anniversary: The Making of Titans and Tragedies
Simians, Cyborg-Women, and Godzilla: 40 Years of Terror of Mechagodzilla

Regardless, I clearly recall playing with a few My Little Pony dolls and coming to a complete halt in my make-believe session when I saw Godzilla thrashing Anguirus! I was shocked; Godzilla and Anguirus were supposed to be buddies! Of course, all was made better when it was revealed that the "Godzilla" who had creamed Anguirus was in fact a dastardly, robotic imposter! :)

Okay; let me try that again without making myself look like too much of a dunce! Hmm...I think I first viewed Terror of MechaGodzilla when I was around 16; I remember it airing on one of those monster movie specials that were popular in in the late 80's and early 90's. The fact that MechaGodzilla had returned with a new counterpart, Titanosaurus, was thrilling! I also enjoyed the musical composition for Terror of MechaGodzilla somewhat better than that presented in Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla! Something about it struck me as more malevolent and driving! :)

Simians, Cyborg-Women, and Godzilla: 40 Years of Terror of Mechagodzilla

MemberGodzillaMar-20-2015 1:04 PMGMAN2887 - That was actually quite interesting! I was not aware fo the fact that Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla was written by a woman! How neat! Additionally, one quote within the text stood out to me - the one in which Katsura described the concept of the Cyborg. "...resolutely committed to partiality, irony, intimacy and perversity. It is oppositional, utopian, and completely without innocence." That is an exceptionally fascinating viewpoint! Thank you so much for sharing this! :)

AdminGodzillaMar-20-2015 2:44 PMIndeed. It gives me an extra viewpoint as well. I hope to write at least two more articles on the film as companions to the first one I wrote. Short's article is very inspiring.
