Godzilla 2014 is set to film on Oahu and Kauai in Hawaii for one month each, totaling two months of shooting on the island, PBN reports. Quite a different environment from the most recent Nanaimo filming location in British Columbia. It's possible this filming location could be used to mirror the scenes from the classic 1954 original, Gojira, where a group of reporters find Godzilla on Odo Island. Since Godzilla 2014 is primarily based on the TOHO original, this is the most likely assumption.

Should make for some absolutely gorgeous shots that wouldn't be possible with the ol man in a suit technique. Can't wait to see some finished footage.

Reggie1138 would be totally WRONG about the man-in-suit stuff (since he seems unfamiliar with the concept of green-screening and optical printing), but it will indeed make for some pretty scenery.

I'm very familiar with green screen and optical printing. My point is I prefer live on location shots. As far as the shitty suit goes I want full articulation of face and body for Godzilla something no suit has or ever will provide.

I second Reggie1138... suitmation was the way to go back in the day because it had more live action realism that CGI couldn't achieve. But it was lifeless and almost laughable. Don't get me wrong, I love Godzilla and all that he is, but I think the biggest reason is that G-fans don't want to let go of suitmation is because of the '98 american failure. Get over it! That was a decade and a half ago. CGI is so freaking amazing now days... Look at Transformers, Pacific Rim, or even the Kraken from Clash of the Titans! I will have absolutely no complaints if the Big G will be all CGI, but perhaps suitmation in a couple of scenes as a homage, but nothing else. Cheers!

all I want to know is.. will G be big like pacific rim kaiju big or cloverfield big or.. will he be 50 meters tall like the original ? Gareth did say that there was nothing sci fi about his version and that he wanted to make a grounded and realistic film. If you ask me.. the use of those words and Godzilla.. do not go together. IF he claimed that it was gonna be sci fi right out of the box at comic con.. there would be no reason to doubt. and with Thomas Tull saying that they wanted to make a kick ass Godzilla movie. well.. how do you not make it sci fi and kick ass at the same time ?

I was on vacation in Oahu last week and visited Kualoa Ranch home filming location to such films as Godzilla 1998, Jurassic Park, Mighty Joe Young, Tears From the Sun, Krippendorf's Tribe, 50 First Dates, Pearl Harbor , and many other films and tv shows. They were preparing the set on there secret island to begin shooting the Godzilla 2014 scenes there.
Godzilla 2014 is an epic rebirth to Toho's Godzilla franchise. Directed by Monsters' Gareth Edwards, Godzilla hits theaters May 16th, 2014 and stars Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn & Bryan Cranston. [Learn More]
