We have an exciting and exclusive announcement to share with you today! One of the actresses who starred in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' Godzilla (2014), Yuki Morita (she played Akio's mother) will also star in the upcoming Daikaiju film The Great Buddha Arrival!
The Great Buddha Arrival (2019) is a reboot of a long lost daikaiju film (quite possibly the first) entitled Daibutsu Kaikoku (1934) that is being made with the blessings of the original director's grandson. You can check out an early teaser trailer here:
Produced and Directed by Hiroto Yokokawa, writen by Hiroto Yokokawa,Yuki Yonezawa & Kazuma Yoneyama, The Great Buddha Arrival stars Masanori Kikuzawa, Akira Takarada (star of 6 Godzilla films including the original), Yukijiro Hotaru (star of the 90's Gamera trilogy as well as Godzilla: GMK), Peggy Neal ( X From Outer Space), Shelley Sweeney (star of 4 Godzilla movies), Norman England (star of 2 Godzilla films), Robert Scott Field (Godzilla vs King Ghidorah), Yoshihiko Otsuki and Jun'ichiro Nirasawa (both stars of Godzilla: Final Wars), Kazuma Yoneyama, Japanese rapper Yuma, Takashi Yasuda and more!
The big Buddha statue design was created by Keisuke Yoneyama with concept art provided by Takuma Asai.
