Warner Brothers and Legendary can celebrate a big win this week for the Monsterverse! Over this past Easter Weekend Godzilla vs. Kong broke U.S Box Office records after taking the biggest haul since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic! It's been reported that over Easter Sunday Godzilla vs. Kong raked in $285 Million!
Since the start of the pandemic, many blockbusters were delayed, canceled or sent directly to streaming services, negating a proper theatrical release. Thanks to efforts by Legendary Pictures, Godzilla vs. Kong released on both select streaming platforms as well as operating movie theaters! With many theaters across the country still inoperable however, it's even more impressive that the film managed to bring in such a significant return!
Fans of the Monsterverse were hoping Godzilla vs. Kong would turn out to be a win for the studios and thus would potentially solidify a continuation of the Monsterverse. Despite a global pandemic massively impacting the film industry, it would appear our wishes were granted and Godzilla vs. Kong is receiving the support it needs from fans and average moviegoers.
Great work to everyone who has paid to seen the film and support this great franchise!
