It looks like Godzilla vs. Kong will be arriving a little earlier--But not by a lot. Variety reports that the fourth entry in Legendary's Monsterverse has shifted its date from May 29th, 2020, to May 22nd, 2020.
The Memorial Day weekend opening is no stranger to the franchise. In 1998 Tri-Star launched (misfired?) the first Hollywood attempt at Godzilla from the same weekend.
The assumption could be made that the new date is a sign of confidence from Legendary. What do you think? Is the new release date a smart move by Legendary? Will more people potentially see the film on a long weekend? Sound off in the comments.
