Godzilla vs. Kong: King Ghidorah DNA will be utilized!

Godzilla vs. Kong will see the utilization of King Ghidorah's DNA, as the post-credits scene at the end of Godzilla: King of the Monsters suggests. During the final scene, we see Charles Dance's character inspecting the severed Ghidorah head which Godzilla had discarded during battle. Earlier this fall director Michael Dougherty sat down with CBM to discuss the importance and impact of this post-credits footage and what it might mean for Godzilla vs. Kong.

Of course the first thought which popped into everyone's head was - will Godzilla vs. Kong see the introduction of Mecha-King Ghidorah? To that question, Dougherty says... the scene was not meant as a direct acknowledgment of such a theory, but doesn't deny the possibility either:

That wasn't a direct set up of Mecha-King Ghidorah, no. I'm not saying it's not, but if you think about King Ghidorah and what's he capable of, regeneration being a key one and the ability to call the other Titans, he's a gold mine of opportunity. That DNA is an untapped resource as far as Charles Dance's character is concerned. A few scrapings of cells and who knows what you can create with it!

Whether or not Godzilla vs. Kong sees the resurg6 of Ghidorah in his mecha-nized state, we know Ghidorah's DNA will be utilized some how, some way. The popular theory is that Godzilla vs. Kong will initially see the two titular Titans battling each other, but will need to put their differences aside and team up to defeat a much more powerful and dangerous enemy. This could be a Ghidorah variant... or it could be something else entirely - our money is still on Destroyah making a Monsterverse debut, but until we know for certain, that speculation remains nothing more than rumor.

How do YOU think Ghidorah's DNA will be used in Godzilla vs. Kong (2020)? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

While I'm extremely curious to see where this plot thread goes in the end, I'm not sure if I really want to see Mecha-King Ghidorah. I mean, I wouldn't be upset if they did go there, but it would be nice if they went in a less expected direction.

GiganMember2722 XPDec-01-2019 3:35 PM

I just want a regrown King Ghidorah or an artificial titan hybrid... perhaps Bagan?

Why are we reporting ancient news?

RodanMember1789 XPDec-01-2019 5:31 PM

Mecha-king ghidorah looking kinda thicc in that picture ngl.

BaragonMember115 XPDec-01-2019 5:34 PM

I honestly dont know how to feel about it. It can go one of two ways. They could use his regenerative DNA for a man-made titan or just revive him altogether. I’ve never been a fan of recurring villains and I feel Ghidorah should’ve been kept alive instead of straight up dying. It was kind of a waste of a potential awesome villain.

Yeah I hope they make Destoroyah.

RodanMember1630 XPDec-01-2019 7:10 PM

I hope it's a new creation, Biollante, or Mecha King Ghidorah that's created from the old bastard's cells lol

RodanMember1789 XPDec-01-2019 7:12 PM

You know, there is a rumor of the world serpent (Jormungand) as the main villian in GvK.

RodanMember1630 XPDec-01-2019 7:14 PM

Really? That's an interesting theory. Is there any evidence behind it?

TitanosaurusMember920 XPDec-02-2019 6:43 AM

I wouldn't be surprised

Mothra LarvaeMember12 XPDec-02-2019 8:19 AM

Isn't Charles Dance not even in GvK?? Which in itself is a big disappointment.

TitanosaurusMember968 XPDec-02-2019 12:17 PM

I think people are taking this a little too far. I remember hearing Charles Dance's character isn't going to be in GvK (which I don't find disappointing), but rather in the movies after GvK (assuming it does well). So ultimately, I don't think Ghidorah's DNA will be used in GvK.

TitanosaurusMember616 XPDec-02-2019 12:25 PM

MinecraftDinoKaiju The guy's a trafficker of Titan DNA. There'll probably be a mention of GvK's bad guy buying it off the black market or something.

King Ghidorah better regenerate in full and safely escape into space. King Kong ain't got **** on Godzilla

GiganMember2722 XPDec-03-2019 12:34 AM

Come on guys, Bagan!

TitanosaurusMember616 XPDec-03-2019 4:10 AM

Xenotaris I can see how Bagan could work, and it would be really cool. Only problem is that, outside of us fans, I don't think even Dougherty remembers he's a thing.

BaragonMember339 XPDec-04-2019 3:37 PM

Ghidorah's DNA... MUTO's DNA... Unknown captured specimens DNA... combined to make... GIGAN. Yeah yeah... I know TOHO hasn't given the rights for that character... that we know of. Who know what goes on behind closed doors anyway. None of us can be a fly on the wall listening to TOHO and Legendary and WB executives having discussions about the future of the Monsterverse and what it could mean for all involved. Marvel built their empire on Iron Man and Captain America... so... why not do the same with the Monsterverse... with Kong and Godzilla ? It's wishful thinking on my part but... what if ?
