In a somewhat surprising move Netflix will provide an English dub for the upcoming anime, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. Two days ago Netflix Japan announced the worldwide release date for the first animated Godzilla feature--It also released a new Japanese trailer for the film.

Today Netflix updated their Godzilla page with a dubbed version of the third theatrical trailer. You can get a taste of the English dub by clicking here.

There is currently no word on who the English cast is. The film will also be available to watch in Japanese with various subtitle options depending on the region. (For those who find the English dub particularly cringe-worthy.)

Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters stars the voice talents of Mamoru Miyano (Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Ultraman Zero: The Movie), Takahiro Sakurai (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans), Kana Hanazawa (.hack//Quantum), Yuki Kaji (Attack on Titan), Tomokazu Sugita (Attack on Titan), Junichi Suwabe (Space Dandy), Kenta Miyake (Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn), Kenyu Horiuchi (Bleach, One Piece), Kazuhiro Yamaji (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) and Kazuya Nakai (Dragon Ball Super). The film is directed by Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare) & Hiroyuki Seshita (Knights of Sidonia) from a screenplay by Gen Urobuchi (Kamen Rider Gaim).

The movie will hit Netflix worldwide January 17th, 2018.

The sequel, currently translated as Godzilla: Decisive Battle, Mobile Breeder City, hits Japanese theaters May, 2018.

Not bad. I probably going to watch the sub more often though since the all the voice actors are from famous anime, many of which I enjoy.

This is by far the best reaction to the dub. Had me laughing for a bit.

English dubs sometimes ruin the movies portrayal of the emotions.. that the characters are putting forth.. imo.. subs would be better.. but then you have a distraction.. but at least you can know what is going on without it sounding so artificial.. as you get with some dubbed versions.

I've gotten so used to hearing the original Japanese dubs in anime lately that I just can't really get into the English dubs.

There are certain tics to the way the animation is synced that simply makes it flow better in the original language it was intended for.

This one doesn't seem to be any different.

It's ok

My philosophy is if the dub does a good job representing the characters and sounds good, I'll watch it. If the dub is awful and the voices don't match the characters then I watch the sub. I like to be able to enjoy both sub and dub.

Oh shoot, I forgot that song even exist. Anyway, I like the voice acting it suits the main character alright.

To be honest, I see both as the same, one better than the other in some situations, but overall, both are still good.

My 3 year old will probably want the English dub, so ill watch that first with her. Then switch that **** over once she goes to bed. She is a Godzilla fan in training. She will come around.
