S.H. MonsterArts Reveals Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra & King Ghidorah Figures!

S.H. MonsterArts Reveals Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra & King Ghidorah Figures!

Tokyo Comic Con kicked off this weekend and Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty was present for the film's panel. The event revealed plenty of new images and S.H. MonsterArts' line-up for the upcoming film.

Additionally, Dougherty spoke of the changes to Godzilla's design.

"These spikes come from the 1954 version. And I made his feet a little bit bigger--He needed bigger claws. Godzilla's spikes are his crown, so they needed to be big."

Many of the adjustments Dougherty made were lead complaints over the design in 2014. ("Elephant feet" and small spikes.) Also check out the new Rodan, Mothra & King Ghidorah designs via S.H. MonsterArts upcoming figures!

Here's a comparison photo of the 2014 S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla with the 2019 figure:

Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Kyle Chandler (Super 8, Friday Night Lights), Vera Farmiga (The Departed), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), O'Shea Jackson (Straight Outta Compton), Aisha Hinds (If I Stay), Anthony Ramos (Hamilton), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Randy Havens (Stranger Things), Ken Watanabe, (Godzilla), Sally Hawkins (Godzilla), Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley), Bradley Whitford (Get Out, West Wing) and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). The film will be directed by Michael Dougherty from his screenplay co-written by Zach Shields. Alex Garcia is producing.

The film bows May 31st, 2019.

Finally, they are revealed!!!! Now, let's go down the list.

Godzilla: Loved the 2014 design and the adjustments done have made it even better. 5/5

King Ghidorah: First of all, it seems that he wont be a wingwalker in this movie which is a good thing. the rest of his design is awsome in my opinion. the heads remind me of heisei and Ghidorah just looks so much more reptilian and dragon like. 5/5

Rodan: ones again a great design. He has way more pteradon aspects which is a good thing in my opinion. The head just screams Showa for me. Rodan's red coloring and the fire makes me think that they used Fire Rodan as an inspiration source for this design. 5/5

Mothra: Mothra is the one I am not sure about. They made her look more like a moth which just makes sense at the end of the day. Her wings and the colors on the other hand are 100% mothra. even with the more moth like appearence, the colors are bassicly the same as her previous designs and I am very happy with that. 3/5

I am speech-less. They're so beautiful! I'm almost crying here. I love their new designs. Look at Ghidorah's wings, they're so huge they need stands. I can't wait to add each one of them to my collection.

Out of all of the designs revealed, my favorite would probably be Rodan.

I love how the top of Rodan's wings look like flowing magma.

I really love Godzilla's new design. It's starting to look more like the Heisei or millennium suit and I appreciate it.
