hey guys so we all know that this is going to be the reboot of a lifetime, it is the original 1954 godzilla which of course seems to be really dark and evil looking, we also know that there will be 2-possibly 3 or 4 new monsters joining in on the birthday bash with godzilla, we also know the characters, the director, pretty much everything that has been released news wise and from glimpses of trailers and images. But there are a couple of things i would like to know if you guys could possibly answer for me

1. will we see godzilla leave behind the sea of fire like he did in the original GOJIRA 1954 film?

2. is godzilla really going to die or not? possibly not since they are already planning a sequal

3. to be honest this is very hard for me to believe but it is a fact ( or is it?) and im not trying to start up a whole nother thread about his height or anything but 350 feet was confirmed but there is a point that must be cleared up here weither or not but in the original godzilla being 164 feet or 50 meters if you will towered over almost every single building except the tokyo tower i dont believe that godzilla will be 350 feet if so ok i can still live with it but i actually think he will be taller but like everyone has said on recent forums we will have to wait until the graphic novel or even for the movie to actually determine his height

4. is akira takarada reprising his role as ogata or maybe even a relative to ogata?

5. is the movie going to take place in 1954 with one of the main characters telling the story?

and last but not least

6. since ken watanabe is playing the role of DR. SERIZAWA is his character going to die like he did in the original?

please feel free to comment and to try to answer the questions the best you can

i also realize that there have been almost 8 or 9 threads about his height so we can ingore that one if you want to so how about it guys what do you think?

I have an answer for number 1, since I don't know the rest.

1. Yes he will leave a sea of fire as shown by this picture.

Also by this.

Hope this helps. :)

Id like to imagine that theyre going to leave somesort of hint at the end which implies that Godzilla is still alive but not quite, so that if they can make a sequel, they can follow off from this movie and not create a whole new story to bring him back.

Like at the end of King kong vs Godzilla, they both fall into the sea, Kong rises but you don't actually know if Godzilla was killed or not. Its not very likely that he would have died, perhaps he swam away and Kong was attempting to swim after him - thus why he swam out to sea for some reason. But anyway they should keep it mysterious at the end I think.

im not convinced of the 350 ft thing either, it wasn't taken from any quotes, it was just used in the article to describe godzilla in general and it seems like someone just rounded up from his heisi/ final wars height.

Now, when it comes to Godzilla's possible size in this, 350 feet, although it fits the description of being "only slightly the tallest Godzilla", it does sound a bit small when you look and say it, but I theorize that if this Godzilla does indeed hunch over a bit when walking normally, and if he can in fact stand fully straight, that could another 20-40 feet of height overall.

Now, for the 1954 part, since there are scenes taking place in it, I assume similar settings from the original film will indeed be used. Also, completely speculative here, but based on how that leaked script from a few months ago went, it could mean that our Godzilla here is the same one from 1954, but in an alternate universe where the attack never happened in full. Or something like that. Again, purely speculative here.

Finally, leading off of that previous statement, since Watanabe plays a modern Dr. Serizawa, if the idea I had holds credence (which it likely doesn't), then this one could be a descendant that never existed in the original universe.

Once again, this is all just speculation on my part.

Godzilla's height can be determined between around 350-450 due to modern American architecture.

During the Godzilla encounter, which didn't show the final appearance but it very likely showed the final height, Godzilla was shown to look into a window on the 35th floor with no trouble.

If he is that height, then by American architectural design he must be somewhere between 350-450 as those are the two relative heights in which hotels and office buildings respectively are built.

Even though I am taking the 350 ft height to heart for the moment, I also think it's a bit on the small side. I know for a fact Godzilla won't break 500 feet, contrary to popular opinion, but as far as 350 goes, the jury's out and I feel he's going to be a bit taller. Something like 380-400 would suit me fine, but it's just my guess because I'm not on Legendary's production team for this movie so I can't say anything with certainty. But that ridiculous height debate involving the 779'+ thing is pure bs, so don't listen to anyone who claims that is what he's going to be. They don't know what they're talking about.

Anyway, this is an interesting discussion so I guess I'll continue.

1 - Will we see a sea of fire?

Possibly. The trailer showed San Fran in fiery ruins, so that might count. If you're asking specifically if Godzilla will do what he does without setting the place ablaze and then set it ablze in one fiery display of power and superiority like in G2K, then I don't know, but I doubt it.

2 - It's highly unlikely that Godzilla will die, but we don't know anything yet about his fate.

3 - I gave my answer on his height already.

4 - It's unlikely that Akira Takarada will be playing Ogata or a relative of. Reason being is because this is not a remake, and using Dr. Serizawa is already a big risk on Legendary's part. I highly doubt they'll use Takarada as Ogata or a relative of Ogata. There's no logic to such a decision.

5 - Part of the movie is set in 1954, but not all of it.

6 - There's no way to know if Serizawa will die. If they have brought him back without touching on his Oxygen Destroyer from the original, then I doubt he'll die yet. He might, but I doubt it. If he does I won't be disappointed, but I don't see a reason to kill him off. That would just be ripping us off of our nostalgia. Some fans would love it, some would hate it. I'm in the latter because I think if they're going to revive a well known and beloved character they should keep him around for a while. Recreating the scenario of Serizawa dying would be contrived and somewhat irresponsible of Legendary in my opinion. Gareth knows better than that I hope.

Anyway, those are my thoughts.
