Prior to the 1996 debut of Roland Emmerich's "Zilla", another Godzilla film was being conceived in the early 90's. This early American attempt at the King of all Monsters was going to be directed by Jan de Bont, but the project never got off the ground. However, the late Stan Winston did have a crack at designing the new Godzilla back then as a concept piece. Stan Winston School recently shared a photo of this design to Instagram, check it out:
What do you think of this design? Do you prefer it to the design we were given in Emmerich's Godzilla? How do you feel it compares to Legendary's Godzilla? Personally, I still prefer Legendary's Goji, but I much prefer this design to the Emmerich Zilla design.

I really like this design. In fact I almost like it more than the current legendary one.

Good God no. Godzilla looks like one of those duck-billed dinosaurs. Just no.
\"SKREEONGK!\" -Godzilla

KingKaijuGojira- I agree.
Godzilla... Truly a God incarnate.

I always liked this design. I had seen it years ago, shortly after they shelved this and went with Emmerich. It's always good to view a design from different angles, and in fact there are other pictures of this concept and it's a pretty cool design. Like most I've seen, I personally might change/tweak a couple of things (a tad too reptilian), but this is light years ahead of GINO and I do like it better than the '14 Legendary look.

As a whole I like better than the 2014 design, though I still hate the type of underbelly/chest design for both it and the 2014 version. I far prefer the more anthropomorphic, muscular build to the chest--Or even the ripped skin on the 2016 Godzilla.
Overall this looks very much like Godzilla and I think it would've worked well on screen.
