With the forthcoming Godzilla vs. Kong coming in 2020, I have a few thoughts on the clash of the titans. I saw the original from 1962, and it was an enjoyable film and the fight was won by Kong as confirmed by Toho which obviously affected many G-Fans.
As a result, G-Fans have become hateful and want to see Kong DIE in the 2020 film. Come on, guys. I'm not saying all G-Fans are like this, but I do see immense hate in some G-Fans, first off they're not gonna kill Kong in his second appearance in the MonsterVerse, it's just not gonna happen.
I once theorised that some G-Fans' hate of Kong stem from the fact that Godzilla lost to Kong in the 1962 original, I don't get it. Kong didn't "kill" Godzilla back then, so why should Godzilla "kill" Kong. Again, not saying all G-Fans are bad, it's just some that are too immature and deluded into thinking that whole Japanese ending where Godzilla wins is true when Toho themselves debunked it.
Here me out, Kong doesn't need to actually die in Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla can just beat him into submission so he lacks the strength to fight anymore, you know? Thanks for reading.

Kong could die. He dies in almost every other film he is in. Not saying he should die, but it could happen. Godzilla so far has proven that he is ruthless.
Kong could die because that's just part of his films. Besides KKvG(1962) and King Kong Escapes, KSI gives us a fresh Kong movie where he isn't climbing a skyscraper and then falling from it and dying. But he dies half the time in his movies. That's a 50% chance, literally! Including Son of Kong and King Kong Lives he dies in half of them!
Godzilla dies in 4 films(including the 98 film and the ending to GMK where we see his heart still beating like in a Friday the 13th movie ending) and Godzilla S.O.S is sketchy and Shin he is just frozen not killed, but that is a 13.3333% chance of Godzilla dying in any film. That up to next 50% of Kong, it just seems like everybody would be ok with that result. Depending on the way they execute it.
Kong dying in any film is like expecting Romeo to kill himself at the end of the play. We literally see it all the time. He is the Brad Dourif of monsters. He is the one that always dies.

Okay, but that doesn't mean he will. Both characters have a large role to play in the MonsterVerse's development, but unlike Kong, Godzilla's place in it is shaky given the situation with Toho.
If they DO decide to pull the plug after Godzilla VS. Kong, then it'll be up to Kong to shoulder the MonsterVerse if folks want it to continue. He's the only other big name title character thus far, and he's the only completely safe and surefire bet.

If Kong does keep the Monsterverse going and Godzilla goes back to Toho, I think the franchise would die out. kong is great and I love him but I don't think he can carry out without another great co-star.
However if Kong does fight other monsters I would love to see him battle other classic giant monsters. This is only a pipe dream here I know but I would pay a lot of money to see King Kong Fight other classic monsters like The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, or The Giant Claw, or THEM! I think that would be great. Not going to happen I know but I would lose it.
But Godzilla wont die (Toho wont let Legendary kill him off) and I think Godzilla has more of a chance to continue this series. I was just trying to say the only monster out of the 2 that would die (contractually) would be King Kong.
