Kong is NO match for Godzilla!  I won't even get into the size thing....lets just go with the fact that Kong is covredc with fur and Godzilla shoots fire....radioactive fire! ...if this movie doesn't end with Kong's flaming carcass, it's wrong! Let me tell you what will happen...G and Kong will (somehow) fight to a draw...but for some reason will have to team up to fight another monster....happy!  (Theres another word for happy that has been absconded by a very sensitive group of people, that should go here, so illI stick with happy.)

I would have to disagree. Godzilla and Kong are quite equally matched in my opinion.

Godzilla might have better armor, more battle experience and the atomic breath, but Kong has the speed, physical strength and intelligence to back it up. Off course I am for team Godzilla, but I am not saying that because Kong has no chance at winning.

Also, this doesn't mean Kong would have to be more powerful than Ghidorah to have a chance. We have to remember that Godzilla will likely have to fight Ghidorah with Mothra and (possibly) Rodan on his side. Alone Godzilla would not defeat Ghidorah, he still needs some help. If godzilla has to fight alone against Kong, Kong might have a bigger chance to win then you think.

still waiting for a good modern kaiju game. *sigh*

How are Kong and Godzilla evenly matched???? First of all, they have to always change Kongs scale...no biggie...they always do that with Godzilla.   Godzilla defeated Destroyah, Mecha Godzilla, Hedora, Biollante, King Ghidorah, Space Godzilla, Orga, ....blah blah blah blah blah.. Kong's a MONKEY!

He got killed on the Empire State Building by airplanes with machine guns!...It was ridiculous that Kong held his own in 1962...if this new movie doesn't correct that glaring error, it will suck...but we all already know what is going to happen.  Tell me I'm wrong....I hope I am...tell me I'm ignorant...which only explains your level of intelligence.... we will all find out when the movie comes out.  American movie makers have shown twice that they do not understand how to make a Kaiju film and most of all, the filmakers do not understand Godzilla or how to make a proper Godzilla film.

"How are Kong and Godzilla evenly matched????"

Well, Kong is not overpowered for godzilla unable to handle nor is Kong underpowered for Godzilla to handle easily, so thus, as KaijuWorld said, "Godzilla and Kong are quite evenly matched in my opinion." There is only a few other monsters fitting the same category evenly matching against Godzilla - Kong among them.

"First of all, they have to always change Kongs scale...no biggie...they always do that with Godzilla."

Well, now, let us think about this: if Kong's size was not changed in 1962's King Kong vs. Godzilla, it would not be much of a challenge for Godzilla now, would it? And if Kong's size was not changed again for 2017's Kong: Skull Island, and his continuous growing for his eventual meetup with Godzilla, it would not be much of a challenge for Godzilla now, would it?

"Godzilla defeated Destroyah, Mecha Godzilla, Hedora, Biollante, King Ghidorah, Space Godzilla, Orga"

Indeed, he did. Such is the power of the King of the Monsters.

"Kong's a MONKEY!"

*Ape

"He got killed on the Empire State Building by airplanes with machine guns!"

His smaller size was drastically different as opposed to his larger sizes in 1962 and 2017, thus the effects of human weaponry had an impact on him.

"It was ridiculous that Kong held his own in 1962...if this new movie doesn't correct that glaring error, it will suck...but we all already know what is going to happen. Tell me I'm wrong....I hope I am...tell me I'm ignorant...which only explains your level of intelligence.... we will all find out when the movie comes out."

No one said you are right, no one said you are wrong; however, no movie can truly "suck", only that it was poorly made or greatly made. But as you yourself said with your own words, "we will all find out when the movie comes out." So indeed, when the film releases - and as with every film - it will not satisfy everyone since we are all each entitled to our own opinions.

"American movie makers have shown twice that they do not understand how to make a Kaiju film and most of all, the filmakers do not understand Godzilla or how to make a proper Godzilla film."

There are billions of us in this world. Mistakes are made. It is the only way we can progress ourselves forward. If said individuals are willing to face failure and overcome it to taking the step forward to follow their passion and fulfilling it, well, sky is the limit I guess one could say. But in all, how can one know if they never try.

I mean, we're arguing about the plausibility of fictional characters stacking up against one another. I get that some fans have fun with fantasy battles and all, but questioning the viability of something like this is silly when it all comes down to how they're written in the screenplay.

They're not real. They can literally do anything the screenwriter/director dictates. Get over it people.

I'm always amazed by the hardcore Godzilla fanboy manchildren who come out of the woodwork to whine and complain about Godzilla fighting Kong in any capacity because they believe Kong can never compare to the strength of their all-powerful infallible lord. They still aren't over the movie from over 50 years ago and so can't accept the fact that Godzilla is being pitted against Kong again.

They're fictional characters, fictional characters who could never even remotely exist in the real world. The first film pitting them against each other was a huge hit, and people have been clamoring for them to fight ever since. Get over it. Just because you're insecure that your favorite fictional character isn't completely invincible because somehow the merit of the character is related to how powerful they are doesn't mean everyone else is. No one cares if Godzilla is supposedly more powerful than Kong, they just want to see them fight. The filmmakers are aware of this, and will undoubtedly make a film that justifies how Kong can hold his own against and possibly overcome Godzilla, just as they did in 1962.

I find it very amusing how outraged this vocal minority of fans are at the mere idea of Godzilla fighting Kong. And it's funny how all of them parrot the same barely intelligible "Godziller iz mor strong then stupid monky who die from planes. Godziller is invincible and haz atomic breath." Give me a break.

@Jy

Okay, now your arguments don't even make sense anymore.

First of all, "kong is a monkey". no, he is an ape and what does that even have to do with anything. Mothra is a giant moth and she has beaten Godzilla in their first outing. Also, Kong is still growing and will probably be around 100m+ when he arrives in 2020.

And don't reply with something like "but that movie is part of another timeline", because you don't seem care anyway. you said Godzilla had already beaten Destoroyah, Mechagodzilla, etc. even though those movies don't take place in the Monsterverse and same goes with Kong and him being shot down on the empire state building. These events didn't take place in the new timeline.

"which only explains your level of intelligence". Really, that is your argument. That says nothing about our intelligence, that only says something about how unaccepting you are about our opinions. Why even create a topic on your opinion if you are not willing to listen and respect other people's opinions.

And then ending with saying that America has no idea on how to make a kaiju movie is just wrong. Many people (including me) loved the 2014 movie and even got introduced to the kaiju genre because of it. King of the monsters 2019 seems to be even better than 2014 so I think with the right people it doesn't matter what country makes a kaiju movie.

Also, just to top it all of, why are you presuming it will be bad when we know little to nothing about this movie. Anything could happen in a MOVIE. as many people have said already this is a fight between fictional monsters and anything can happen. Kong could even get his lighting powers back. You just have to wait till 2020 for the result.

still waiting for a good modern kaiju game. *sigh*

No "argument" was intending to happen on my part. Just providing thoughts on what seems to make them evenly matched. Not even sure where that word even came to be thought of honestly...

I know Kong won, and that is that. But I can understand some fans feeling the need to assert themselves whether they believing whichever character won or other fans feeling the need to assert that, well, they are fictional characters incapable of existing in our reality that can do whatever the filmmaker/writer wishes to happen.

Anyways, though, in regards to topic, I know some people will be expecting for Godzilla vs. Kong to be great or not great, but I will be looking forward to it despite what may be said of it. I am not expecting it to be terrific or terrible, but decent enough to my enjoyment.
