Well said, and I partially agree. But the thing is that the message, if no one else understands it and only knows of the Disney Godzilla, will die anyways. We aren't going to be here forever, and we likely wouldn't be able to convince anybody to watch a movie from 1954, at least I never have been able to before, not even with my grandparents. Not just Godzilla, but even well known ones like My Fair Lady (yes I watched it and it was good, I'M PeRFEctLy SeCUrE), Psycho, The Birds, etc. I feel like by the time we're in our older ages and have grandkids or really young relatives in comparison, we won't be able to get them to watch movies from even OUR time, let alone stuff that they're GREAT GREAT GREAT grandparents would have seen, coupled with the fact it's a foreign film... odds are, very few if any people would remember the true meaning of Godzilla after us. Meaning, most likely, if the Disney Godzilla many of us fear were to happen, the message would die with us. Though, at least that would ease my fear of Godzilla movies of profound significance (or in general, depending on how bad a case we're talking about) will be made after I die lol.

I agree. But the thing is that if Disney ever does anything like the scientist idea, then I seriously doubt the Disney Godzilla would get good, if even okay reviews. Because, like I said, people now know who godzilla is. And even people who haven’t seen the movies would know that this wasn’t Godzilla. And I doubt people would forget the movies that came before Disney Godzilla. But if Disney were to be smart with this, and get someone who knows Godzilla and what he’s about, they actually do him right, and the movie turns out good, then I would have faith that Godzilla’s future will still last a long time. I still don’t really want Godzilla with Disney. But as long as they get the correct person to do a real godzilla movie, then I’d be alright with it.

They'll more than likely SJWified the hell out of godzilla with every single person having to be of "diverse" background over the meaning of why Godzilla exists. It would be horribly overly human focused and not in the good way of human focused either. Mankind will take out godzilla because the humans power of good triumphs Godzilla's power of evil. They probably won't event mention he is nuclear at any compacity and would probably make him green and breath fire!

They'll turn mothra into a feminist icon rather than being the embodiment of good nature and turn Battra into a card caring villian because he is male or turn him into mothra's evil twin sister who was wrong by male kaiju society or was wronged by always good Mothra for not admitting she was lied which was the reason why evil sister battra became evil in the first place or some stupid excuse like that.

Angurius or Rodan would be turned into a dog behaving moron. King Ghidorah would be turned into a whiny angsty teenager

PLEASE NO DISNEY GODZILLA

I guess this is an unpopular opinion but I would be fine with Disney getting Godzilla and this is coming from someone who is largely not a fan of where they took star wars.

Well... I feel like it would make a tiny bit more sense with Godzilla than most things that it gets put into (looking at you, Fallen Kingdom!). I mean, Godzilla's always been political. Also, a lot of the stuff you mention probably wouldn't happen since they probably wouldn't talk or anything. BUT I really agree that it would happen a lot among the humans and have absolutely no subtlety and I WOULD ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. Seriously, tone it down a bit! It's like if every Marvel movie nowadays was REALLY anti or pro nuclear and trying to shove it down your throat. I'm not here for the corruption of the federal dug administration (actually, that would be an interesting non-Godzilla movie, in my opinion), or to talk about the current state legislature of Kentucky, or to talk about the legislation of farting in public (look it up. Also, have to make the joke, another kind of nuclear power lol), or about Diabetes (we're here for the cancer and radiation poisoning!), or about binomial nomenclature, or the ethics of or to talk about legislation of cigarettes! It doesn't relate to what Godzilla is about: a force of nature showing the mistakes of humanity and throwing them back at us (yeah, not the MAIN thing, but it's one of the main things about him!). I mean, I like the way they have politics in Godzilla, being very BROAD and talking about national government and the military and nuclear power. You know, stuff that relates to Godzilla. Don't throw in a bunch of random messages like "Don't/Do smoke, kids!" into a Godzilla movie (or any movie, for that matter) unless you can work it in subtly and VERY well.

Actually, Anguirus as basically the puppy dog of Kaiju... that sounds kind of adorable. I know that's not what you meant, but the words Anguirus and Dog conjured the image and it's too adorable AAAAAAAH!!!!

TL;DR: While it would make more sense with Godzilla than most movies, STILL, IT'S NOT THE MESSAGE WE CAME FOR. Don't put unnecessary messages that divert from the actual message of a film, and especially don't do them poorly.

As I said before, messege Disney on social media like twitter, Tumblr or Instagram and see what they think, I mean i would do it, but I don't have a phone.

They probably wouldn't see it, respond, nor care.

@TheLazyFish "BUT I really agree that it would happen a lot among the humans and have absolutely no subtlety and I WOULD ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. Seriously, tone it down a bit!"

See, this is one of the reasons I liked KOTM. It had a fairly diverse cast, and it is never once brought up. They're just people doing their jobs, and that's all we need to know. It doesn't matter who's black or who's Asian or who's a woman or anything.

It was actually kind of gratifying to see.

(1) As TheLazyFish said, they likely wouldn't see it, nor would they care, so there's really no point in trying.

(2) On the extremely slim chance that they do see it, we wouldn't want to give them any ideas, now would we?

Anyone else think Disney would transform Godzilla into something that a friend to their princesses, cause he would destroy Maleficent in her dragon form and wreck havoc across Disney. Nothing can stand in his way.

That last thing is what we all fear the most, even though it isn't likely. Also, NO!!!! We will never, ever give Disney the idea to buy Godzilla. It would be like TRYING to hurt Godzilla

What do you fear most? Godzilla being friends with Elsa, cause he would kill her. Also, Toho would be pissed off if Disney bought Godzilla from them.

"Toho would be pissed off if Disney bought Godzilla from them."

If that would be the case, they could have just NOT sold Godzilla to Disney in the first place.

"What do you fear most? Godzilla being friends with Elsa, cause he would kill her."

Well, he SHOULD, but he would have the leash and whip of Disney keeping him from doing what he should. In this scenario, where Godzilla is put into children's films, he would be kiddied down to the point where he is unrecognizable, and would basically be a funny Disney Creature, like the Caribou from Frozen or the mice from Cinderella, or the lobster from The Little Mermaid, or the Bear from The Jungle Book, etc. He'd probably sing.... UHHHHHH-

Eh, what do you expect when you combine an atomic monster that's a symbol of nuclear power and a company known for princess movies and put it in a context that makes us all hate the latter?

I know, I was joking. Even still, we wish technically wish harm upon a ton of different fictional characters, especially when we argue about who would win in a fight lol (just in case anyone can't tell, I'm kidding).

These responses make me thankful these types of decisions aren’t really up to us.

As many have reasonably stated there is very little chance of this actually happening but stranger things have happened in the past. But if it were I doubt Disney proper would be backing it, they’d probably create a new branch or division like Toho-Disney and leave the creative decisions to them like Marvel and Disney Animation, Pixar ETC.

The one possible benefit is a wider reach and infinitely more film making resources than the franchise has been used to.

I think the best way to imagine how it might turn out is to see how Avatar fares under the new regime since that is a wide reaching film series with a bit of an edge and plenty of subtext and messaging. Much like early Godzilla and the heisei era.

At best we get creators and films that match some of the endearing qualities of those eras and at worst we get disposable noisy one note actioners like the bayformers.

(which are charming in their own way)

if anything a Disney style backing would support the 1 a year releases the original series had under Toho, which true has the chance of diluting the character and brand as before but also stands to make the character ever present in the pop culture consciousness in a unified way. ( true we had films in the interim of 2014 and KOTM but for the general movie goer theres a 5 year gap with that area)

For what it’s worth, it would definitely work well for Mothra, who is very marketable and can fit within the Disney stylings easy. Plus she’d be best princess by default.
