I have come to the conclusion that this site has one serious drawback to it... and that is people posting pics that spoil a movie that isn't even finished yet let alone in the theater.

I get it that it can be an inevitable thing... but If I were in charge of this site... I would make it a rule... no spoilers pics or scripts or video clips... period. Entertaining theories... yes. Thoughts and opinions... yes.

Pictures of toy figures not even in the store yet in America... heck no.

I remember what it was like to walk into Kmart back in 1998 and was able to purchase a Godzilla (tunazilla) figure months before the movie came out and it was not even a toy that was supposed to be seen yet. I still have it in the box... but the point is... I really wanted to be surprised at the theater and as a result... I was not and the thrill of going there was non existent.

As for KOM... I saw most of the fight scenes on youtube before it was in theaters and that was the fault of WB. There again was nothing for me to look forward to when I hit the theater. I liked the movie... but had already seen most of it on youtube before hand.

So I thought... I don't want to know nothing about GvsK... no toys... no leaked videos... no leaked scripts... no pics.

I am not blaming Scified for the latest info regarding G vs K... because it's all over youtube now. One video has a thumb pic of the toy figures posted right on this site and it's  their video thumb... so I cannot unsee that.

I am thinking at this point of not going to see the movie at all. Knowing what I didn't want to know in the first place and that as it pertains to what is in that image... has taken all the joy out of going to the movie theater and not having a clue as to what I am about to see.

Some of you out there must feel the same. What's the point of being surprised if you already know what's inside your Christmas package? For that matter why have your present wrapped at all ?

If you already have an idea and knowledge of the next Godzilla movie... then all you have to look forward to is how it gets executed. There will be no surprises... if the toys are accurate.

I'm sorry... but something has got to change or every monster film made from here on out is going to be spoiled for us because of leaks and I am sick of it. If I see a page that has the word "spoiler" in it... I'm avoiding it. Unfortunately... comments on other sections related to monster topics that don't have spoiler warnings... still manage to have one or two people commenting about a spoiler from some place else. Since I read comments... I find that in and of itself annoying.

Yes I'm upset.

I'm with this guy! I remember when someone spoiled the ending of Endgame for me.

Ah shit I’m using my wrong eye again. Sorry that was meant to be behind your back

You have the option of not viewing the threads. If you see a spoiler, it is usually due to choice. Unfortunately some people blurt spoilers out unexpectedly so one needs to just look away.

Yeah. No one can make you do or feel anything. If you ever said " Because he or she made me mad" then that's not right because they didn't make you mad, you made the choice to have that emotion. I am in a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE minority in which I actively seek out spoilers. Why? Because I can't stand not knowing what happens. I had my friend spoil endgame to me because I wanted to know what happened to Thanos. I thought that if he died without me not knowing before hand, I would be pissed. Therefore, I had him tell me what happened in endgame. I knew that Mechagodzilla, and Kong having an axe would be in the movie WAY before the leaked images came out. But I still will be looking for any information because i'm concerned about Rodan. So...yeah.

Zwei Wing is the best singing duo. Change my mind.

Dude, why Rodan? He's just napping in a volcano near Mt. Fuji. So he's fine.

I agree so badly. I had the MechaG spoiled for me by a recommended video on youtube that appeared in my notifications. I wasn't going to watch it, but I already saw the thumbnail and title at that point, so it was already spoiled for me. I mean, WTF?!!! I actively made it so I wouldn't be notified from my main sources of Kaiju news in preparation for this movie, and then this comes up in my notifications?!!! So, I then checked my usual sources because at that point, what's the point? I already had MechaG spoiled. I was actively going to avoid the trailers, but now I know the huge twist. Fucking great. Still going to see it. I mean, you get to know the complete story by watching the movie , even if some of it is spoiled. It'll still be an enjoyable experience... but nowhere near as enjoyable THANKS TO THOSE FUCKING LEAKS. Seriously WB, get your shit together! How do you have so many leaks?!!!!!!

Yes, when important plot points are revealed on the internet from movies such as GvK, it's very irritating. I remember about a year ago, this same situation happened with KotM when images of a toy of Burning Godzilla were leaked on this website. After things like that are spoiled, it's almost impossible to void to avoid them (unless you live under a rock for a few months). However, it was your choice to watch the leaked videos from KotM, and you can't blame WB because they were not forcing you or anyone to watch these clips. In fact, they were on the internet taking down these leaks like crazy. But yes, I do agree that people should keep spoilers to them selves unless they can discuss them on threads or platforms regarding the spoilers.

You can't take my word for it because I don't know for sure, but I have heard that Mechagodzilla has a pretty small role in the film.

I think it's a little bit WB's fault that SO MANY leaks have come out. I mean, you don't even really see this level of thing with Disney or Marvel, some of the most anticipated things in mainstream media. But a Godzilla movie with this many leaks? This is almost unheard of, even with more popular franchises! This is kinda ridiculous! But good on them for trying to get it back under control.

[WARNING recent SPOILERS included below]

It usually depends on what kind of "spoiler" it is. The MechaGodzilla thing doesn't bother me too much--I'm pretty sure that would've been revealed in the promotional material at some point anyway.

But how and why MechaGodzilla is in the movie and what happens with it in the story is something I'd prefer to avoid.

@TheLazyFish

Oh, I completely agree that there is an overwhelming amount of GvK spoilers out there. It only seems to be  footage and leaked images that WB is always taking down, such as the GvK CCXP footage. As for leaked toys, yes that seems to be a problem, since Burning Godzilla was also revealed with Jakks Pacific toys. I guess it comes down to bad marketing on WB's part, such as trailers and toys, because I also agree that Disney / Marvel films don't seem to have that same kind of problem. When it comes to that, yes, WB needs to keep it under control, and changing their marketing could very well change their spoiler problem.

It's your choices in life than either lead on the path of right or wrong. Wise words from my seventh/eighth grade teacher.'

I am mad by my choice... but not at one particular person... but rather at the irresponsible way in which people pass on information that is supposed to be guarded.

You wouldn't want enemy forces to know the exact location of your NAVY seals... right ?

 That would be foolish.

You wouldn't tell a 3 year old child 5 months before his/her birthday exactly what they are going to get and then wrap it up anyway... that's just stupid.

A major motion picture studio like WB should take great care not to ruin the movie for people months ahead of time by allowing a merchandiser to reveal action figures to the public before there is even a freakin' teaser trailer out... and especially when they are doing massive reshoots due to poor reception at the screenings. This movie already has strikes against it. Now I don't know the plot... but... I don't want to know jack diddley about the movie. I like theories and thoughts...  but these spoiler leaks are just bad for business. KOM is a great example of that. It wasn't a bust... but it wasn't the  huge success that WB was gunning for either. The monterverse may or may not continue... but having a huge spoiler revealed months ahead of the last movie does not bode well for the franchise in my opinion. I may just sit this one out and wait for the DVD. WB makes too many mistakes when it comes to sci fi and adventure flicks (JUSTICE LEAGUE)

GODZILLA 2014 should have had Dougherty from the get go... but WB went the cheap route with Edward's version... and that was a mistake in my opinion. There were not many leaks prior to his film as much as there were prior to the KOM film. I know this is moot but I think my point is valid as is my anger. In the 80's and 90's I never heard of many movie leaks if any at all. But today everyone walks around with a camera on their phone and BOOM... nothing is secret anymore. The footage of Kong and G on a boat... we were not supposed to see that... as it was exclusive to participating audience members at an event in another country... but that did not stop foolish irresponsible individuals from echoing it on twitter and facebook and youtube... ect ect.

Sorry for the rant but it grinds my gears.

"...especially when they are doing massive reshoots due to poor reception at the screenings."

This has not been corroborated and is likely untrue--It comes from a source known for false information. Right now WB is doing minor reshoots at the studio, which is fairly routine for any blockbuster. There has been no confirmation of screenings, though I wouldn't doubt it.

Back to the OP- If I were in charge of this site... I would make it a rule... no spoilers pics or scripts or video clips... period. Entertaining theories... yes. Thoughts and opinions... yes.

To be fair, as I recall from the Prometheus/Alien Covenant forum, there was a general post put out to label threads with spoiler alerts from Admin since those movies had massive amounts of buzz. It wasn't perfect due to member compliance or noncompliance, but it was put out there and worked pretty well. It only works if everybody abides by the "rule" which is sort of a "gentleman/woman agreement". Entertaining theories and opinions get mixed in with what some discuss in viral videos/trailers etc that are spoilers to some.

Yeah, I think we should try that agreement on these forums as well. We used to do that when we were hyping KOTM, so I guess we just need to get back into the habit.

I agree that the source about the reshoots is iffee... but WB has said they are doing reshoots... but what that involves is pure speculation.

RR44,

It's been specifically reported minor reshoots. It lasted less than a week, which was shorter than King of the Monsters' reshoots. Every blockbusters goes through reshoots to pick up shots they realized they needed in the editing room. This is common.

Let's switch gears a bit. Would anyone here into games buy one without knowing anything about it or seeing some game play footage, graphics or knowing the story and characters? Just food for thought.

There's a difference between knowing the basic plot of the movie with some test footage of the base elements to sell you into watching the movie, and spoiling (SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Tony's death in Endgame or Arthur killing his mother in Joker. I mean, it's like showing Thanos appearing in Infinity War in ONE trailer, and showing everyone die in the next trailer. You see the difference?

If people weren't lazy, we wouldn't try to be efficient. If we weren't efficient, we'd never get anything done.

MemberGodzillaJan-11-2020 6:51 PM

I saw the word Joker and CHOSE to look away since I am watching it tomorrow night. And since I looked away, I cannot confirm you were talking about the newest movie.

TheLazyFish I think it is similar. You would buy a game or movie based on plot alone? Cool if you would, but I wouldn't since I got hoodwinked too many times.

TheLazyFish

MemberRodanJan-12-2020 4:09 PM

Again, there's such a thing as footage showing the execution of a plot and the base plot, and then there's spoilery stuff like the main twist of the movie. I mean, imagine if they showed Ironman's death in the Endgame trailers! Or Thanos dying (either time) in the trailers! Or Burning Godzilla in the KOTM trailers! Oh wait...

Or if Darth Vader being Luke Skywalker's father was spoiled in the trailers. Sure, everyone knows it now, even if they haven't seen the movie like me, but imagine if BEFORE the movie was released that it was shown in the trailers. HUGE moment being lost.

In conclusion, there's a difference between showing stuff that shows the plot of the movie or differentiates it from similar movies, and showing the huge twists or the most important moments of the movie.

If people weren't lazy, we wouldn't try to be efficient. If we weren't efficient, we'd never get anything done.
