Think about it, Kong is the clear underdog and Godzilla has also been the underdog for half of his MonsterVerse fights. So with that in mind, Kong will probably win.

Not to mention, Godzilla was getting his butt kicked for a good portion of his fight against Ghidorah in Boston and almost died, he needed Mothra and humans to help. Muto Prime would have killed him if the humans hadn't helped. Mutos ganged up on him in 2014 and almost killed him, but again humans saved him by drawing away the Femuto by exploding the nest. Kong has more of a perfect run if you exclude the ambush from the humans.

Also, Godzilla has strength to make up for his lack of speed, and he's rather intelligent. Godzilla also bows to no one, and something is affecting Godzilla and causing him to go rouge in GVK, as said in the trailer. A

I think it will be because he better used Godzilla’s disadvantages against him and his own advantages to their full potential. Godzilla is a tank. He eats damage and his atomic breath is dangerous. While these are good, they are also exploitable. This makes Godzilla slower on land and his breath his telegraphed by his plates. Kong can outrun and out maneuver him with his speed and agility. What he lacks in physical power, he makes up for with his ability to use his environment as a weapon and his primitive human level intelligence to make weapons like the chain whip he made in skull island as a kid and the axe he makes( or his ancestors made) in GvK.
