I actually don’t mind the cutaways from the fights in G14 and KOTM. I think both movies did a pretty good job at giving the monsters enough screentime, and I like the way the humans were integrated into the fight scenes.
When it comes to a Kaiju film, it’s important that your have the human cast participate in the action as the story unfolds. This gives them a purpose in the story. Without cutting away to the human drama during action scenes, the humans are left with less time to develop, and this robs them of a real purpose in the narrative of the film.

I agree completely. I enjoy how it also shows the scale of the kaiju as well.
You know it’s something the Showa era did as well, for example Mothra vs Godzilla 61’ they cut to rescuing school children in the final fight or in Gidora they have scenes with them on the cliffs with the princess (I’m bad at names so I can’t even try).
I think people hold MV to standard of Hesei, because that doesn’t happen as much in that era. This comparison confuses me because MV is more similar to the Showa era not the Hesei era.
Also GVK didn’t have that much cut away either or gave humans much to do, and just had them cheering for giant monsters smashing hong kong. That’s weird though, cheering just doesn’t seem like the right reaction.

You forgot the GVK parts where they cut away to Millie Bobby Brown and her Scooby-Doo crew trying to stop APEX's evil MechaGodzilla plans.

But it cutaway about 2-4 times
only and it didn’t last as much time.
