Briefly: Director Michael Dougherty, in response to a fan, confirmed on Twitter that practical effects will be implemented in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
The information comes directly after Dougherty confirmed the involvement of creature artist Tom Woodruff Jr--Best known for bringing beasts to life via animatronics, suits and make-up. The extent of the practical effects use remains unknown, but given Hollywood's conservative nature with the technique(s) the movie is still expected to use a liberal amount of CG.
The more hands-on approach to bringing monsters to life was sorely missed in the 2014 Godzilla. The inclusion of practical effects work is much closer to the spirit of the franchise and its forefathers.
What do you think of practical effects being used in Godzilla: King of the Monsters? What techniques do you expect to be used? How will it be executed? Let us know in the comments below!
