Lets take this one breath at a time and keep the salt shaker with us. Gormaru Island reported on a week old video segment from a local Atlanta, Georgia news station (WSBTV) about the construction of BlackHall Studios. BlackHall is a new, massive production studio hoping to court the business of many upcoming blockbusters. In the segment, site reporter Steve Gehlbach hints at Godzilla: King of Monsters being among the first blockbusters to shoot at the new location:
"That comes in March. Can't say what it is, but the rumors involves a sequel with a giant lizard-like creature wreaking havoc..."

This is consistent with another local report two weeks ago, that offhand mentions Godzilla 2 will be shooting in Atlanta. If true, and production does begin in March, it obviously means much more has been accomplished on the sequel than was lead to believe. If it sounds like this news is contradicting the information that Godzilla 2 is shooting at China's new Qingdao Movie Metropolis, keep in mind that many films shoot at various locations.
Fans have wondered how shooting could be so soon if there's no director or script in place, but just because Legendary Pictures hasn't announced a director doesn't necessarily mean they haven't already picked one. It's also possible the local report could be incorrect and Godzilla: King of Monsters is shooting later in the year--Which would be a more believable timetable. We'll have to wait and see.
Stay tuned as more develops on the progress of Godzilla: King of Monsters.
