Yes, Wanda owns Legendary, after all. Godzilla is not a well-known or popular figure in China, at least compare to the West, so they would need specific marketing to raise the awareness of the big G in China.

^Yes and no. The 2014 movie did very well in China. In fact it's one of the big reasons it even hit $500 million worldwide.

Well, you know what? That is a cool fact, but getting back on track, I think the posters look cool, no matter where they came from. It's awesome. I love the very happy looking art on these posters, as if we didn't see Rodan destroy an entire village in the trailers.  They are great, even if Godzilla looks kinda like Barney the Dinosaur.

G. H. (Gman): Transformers did great in China too, but it does not enjoy the level of popularity it has in the West. Same goes for Godzilla. Chinese moviegoers may be curious about a movie with giant monsters hence people went to see the 2014 movie, but the fact remains, they are not as familiar with Godzilla as Western audience.

I'm not disputing that. However, I wouldn't sell China's familiarity with Godzilla short seeing as Toho's films have had wider theatrical releases there than they do in the USA. (Godzilla: Final Wars and Shin Godzilla in particular.)
