I know many fans got really mad at Godzilla's ability to run, but why get mad? This can make the scenes a lot cooler than in 2014. My only concern with his running ability is will it stay CONSISTENT into GVK, if it does not, this may be an issue.
Godzilla running in the movie before GVK, but not in the next movie itself? It would also have to depend if he has the need to run in it at all. The time it takes place would matter too, but if they are going to be including multiple Kaiju, the Godzilla should be the same as in G2:KOTM.
Along with that, in his burning state, will he be able to run? Maybe even fly? Possibly hover above ground! JK, he probably won't do that. There still is a possibility! Let me know what you guys think about Godzilla's cardio level!
BaragonMember307 XPJan-13-2019 4:18 PMI don't have an issue with the big G running, but I draw the line at "hover" or "fly", that would remind me too much of the trippy tone of Godzilla vs Hedorah, and I don't think that is the tone Director of KOTM is aiming at.
TitanosaurusMember729 XPJan-13-2019 5:33 PMHonestly, I REALLY like how Legendary's Godzilla can full-on sprint now. Gives him some extra uniqueness given his immense bulk and animalistic brawler fighting style.
It also means that Kong's only advantage thus far is agility and potentially intelligent strategy.

It's not JUST the fact that he's running. At least, not for me. It's the fact that he's doing so whilst being so very very THICC. This bulk of his combined with that speed makes for a very powerful force to be reckoned with.
Shin Godzilla and Godzilla Earth are generally long-ranged attackers. But Legendary Godzilla? He just rushes right in like the classic Showa-era Godzilla, only he has the size and strength of a modern Godzilla to back it up.
Mothra LarvaeMember25 XPJan-14-2019 4:27 PMMy problem with Godzilla running is how it's animated. It looks like he's a fat kid running after the school bus he just missed. He also was somewhat slow and bulky in the 2014 film so not sure the sudden change but maybe that has something with the rumors of him getting an upgrade via nuclear radiation...

It's also sad when people can't accept new information (to them) that contradicts an opinion they have just because they don't want to be wrong. It's okay to be wrong about something, it means you get to learn something new.

Mothra LarvaeMember34 XPJan-15-2019 3:22 AMI don't know what everybody's going on about. We've seen Godzilla run in other movies. I just watched the Heisei & Millennium series, and saw him run twice, once in one of the last 3 Heisei movies, & then once in either 2000 or Final Wars. There are probably more in those series, and everyone knows he ran in the Showa movies. He lumbers everywhere, but when another monster shows up, he breaks into a run towards them every now & then.
TitanosaurusMember729 XPJan-15-2019 4:52 AMWhile other Godzillas have been seen running in the franchise before, that was when they were depicted by actors in suits, meaning that they ultimately ran like actual Humans.
Unlike them, this Godzilla is depicted by CGI, and thus they can afford less Human-styled means of locomotion. Notice that he kinda leans forward and tucks his arms in a bit, almost like a theropod dinosaur such as a Velociraptor. In fact, Shinagawa-kun (the 3rd form of Shin Godzilla) displays a similar kind of running style, which makes sense since he's also depicted by CGI.
Mothra LarvaeMember58 XPJan-16-2019 1:50 PMI think the run makes sense, we have evidence to suggest some VERY large dinosaurs could run. Obviously the G-man is in a weight class all his own in that respect, but my point remains. The way he leans forward like a T-Rex or Giganotasaurus would probably run is really cool and makes him feel more like a living breathing animal. I love the older movies, both Showa and Heisei, but I think the way Legendary is handling Godzilla is really well done.
Oh and side note, if you've ever seen an elephant run, it's kind of scary something that big can move as fast as it does.

This Godzilla moves and acts like a gigantic animal would if they didn't have to worry about physics at that size. Many gods throughout history have been portrayed as animals, so Godzilla moving like a giant animal isn't a mark against his "god status", as Mike Dougherty put it.
