I have been on the youtube platform for a while, and suddenly videos pop up.Those videos are from New Godzilla fans i think, because those new "fans" are mocking showa and heisei. The reason new "fans" are popping up is because GvK was featured in memes and ruined its value for me.And those new fans are just not real fans because mocking the original is just disgusting because people wore suits heavier than them and some even passed out in them.
Most of these is comparing heisei to monsterverse or straight up mocking heisei AND showa.I want your input on it to see how we can change this type of stupidity in the Godzilla fandom

Fans who didn't grow up with the classics. It's hard for some to appreciate the authenticity of the source material. Boils down to immaturity really. I'm fortunate that I grew up on the classics, I remember going to my local Blockbuster or Jumbo Video and renting 2 or 3 Godzilla movies at a time (back when video stores were a thing lol). So for me, having grown up on those I have a healthy respect and appreciation for them. Newer films and the Monsterverse are dramatically more advanced, visually so it's difficult for some to compare the two generational differences. Although I still love watching the classics and in many cases far more than the Monsterverse flicks. But, to each their own I guess. It's all a matter of perspective.

It’s just this irritates me as well. I sort of thought, that maybe that they’d want to learn more and explore the franchise, but the people on YT just seem to only be fans of the MV godzilla. I mean 14’ was my first G film, and I literally wanted to watch other godzilla movies, not just monsterverse. I thought others would do that.
Youtube hasn’t really been a good place for godzilla, and it’s getting worse.

The way to stop it, try to rival it.

These Godzilla fans aren't true Goji fans. They are idiotic fools that only care about attaching themselves to viral topics for no reason just to feel "cool" and it's really DUMB.

And yes SarcasticGoji, things are getting worse for Big G on YT....

I'm also very conflicted on this topic. On the one hand, it's great that Godzilla has become as mainstream as it has and the more fans of what we love the better!
But as SarcasticGoji mentioned, I'm also slightly afraid that this will lead to the fandom being split between fans who enjoy everything Godzilla and Kaiju related and fans who only enjoy the Monsterverse and nothing else. It's a place many fandoms have gone done with the Transformers being the most infamous example of this with Star Wars not far behind.
Of course, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with thinking this way about anything. It's that constant fighting between the 2 about which is the best that has me worried. Now I don't see this happening to the Godzilla franchise as much as those other fandoms, but it's something I'm keeping my Gigan visor out for.
Long live the king...

It's full of dumb people now,it become mainstream cause of memes, and the dumb meme people started ****ting on the og

Also, please don't start with the whole "true Godzilla fan" stuff. To be fair, it IS understandable when people say for example that they are Comic fans because they've watched the MCU, but with a franchise so diverse and not to mention BIG, when ARE you call yourself a "true Godzilla fan". If you're a fan of the Monsterverse but nothing else, I think you are still 100% allowed to call yourself a Godzilla fan.
Long live the king...

What the "fans" forget is that without the existence and continuations of the heisei and showa, the Monsterverse wouldn't have existed.

Yes, I feel very much invested in just the MonsterVerse. It certainly gave me what I wanted. But the people that just follow GVK and nothing else knowing DAMN WELL that there's much more than meets the eye for Goji
And yes, the Transformers reference was very much intentional.

I agree about the “true godzilla fan” thing.
But Kamoebas V.6 did share a video that annoys me, I don’t have the link. Honestly though, it seems that YT seems to have two types of people. Older Goji fans and the newer ones. Unfortunately the newer ones seem to only think there is monsterverse and sometimes shin. Ones that make fun of older movies, I have yet to see.

@KaijuFan_6754 Uhm okay, your point being? Does that mean you need to familiarize yourself with the previous eras Godzilla before you can call yourself a fan? I mean I really, REALLY like Harry Potter, but I've never taken the time to read the books. Does that mean I have to familiarize myself with the books as well to make me a Harry Potter fan?
Long live the king...

This is what happens when things go mainstream. Many people won’t actually understand it.

That is a very good point.

People don't even bother crediting the 1962 King Kong Vs Godzilla film. I highly doubt they even know of it's existence. They're to busy praising the 2021 version instead.

I guess it’s just annoying to see people staying at the surface, for us who have taken the time to watch older movies.

This is a little unrelated, but I just realized that Kong getting shocked by the HEAV in GVK is probably an Homage to 1962 when Kong gets struck by lightning

@KaijuBuildz No, just saying people have no respect for the classics. Sorry for the confusion.

@SarcasticGoji that is very likely. That movie has a bunch of references from the old one.

TBH I would just not look at the memes. People are allowed to like or not like what they want. If they only like the mosterverse good for them.

@KaijuFan_6754 Ah, I see, now that I can understand. I feel like that goes for anything new based on an old property.
To quickly compare it to Transformers again, It's like people who say "Look how stupid G1 is, like Megatron turns into a small gun instead of a tank which is way better BTW, WHAT!!!", like you realize it's what made the franchise and characters so popular and beloved to begin with right?
Long live the king...

@KaijuBuildz right on target!

KaijuBuildz, it's like how some people trash Transformers G1 when the Optimus Prime of that one was far better than the Bayverse one. I think those type of people like the senseless violence of Godzilla Vs. Kong are probably the same people who liked "GIVE ME YOUR FACE" in Revenge of The Fallen...

Oh God please don't start these "True Fan" arguments, while bashing and picking fights with others. This is a major problem that plagues other fandoms.
It's one of the reasons that (despite my life long love of dinosaurs and prehistoric life) I can't stand the paleontological community, because it's devolved into a community of constant complaining and gatekeeping. With members constantly looking down on others while bashing them and picking immature fights, just because something doesn't conform to their ideology. It's basically become, for lack of a better term, a toxic s***hole of constant conflict.
People have different opinions on things, I personally hate the Polygon Anime Trilogy for many reasons, however there're fans that enjoy it, and that's fine. I love both the classic Toho movies and the MonsterVerse, so seeing people fighting over them and judging who is a "true fan" honestly upsets me. Can't we just agree that we love Godzilla (for different reasons) and leave the fighting to the monsters?

Sasqua dash, the new fans are disrespecting the old fans and are mocking what they like.Although the paleontology community is very toxic i still found some warmth in it.

SasquaDashSome of us feel that way too as well. I don’t like the fighting, but as I said, seeing people disrespect or ignore older films angers me, but I won’t do anything about it. After all, if I did anything, would it actually help?

Yeah, let's avoid classifying people as true fans or not, we're all fans of the same franchise. It's just up to the individual to decide what parts of that franchise they like best. I don't think any fan should trash the source material their Fandom is based on but I understand that opinions can get heated when the direction of a Fandom takes dramatic turns. I think we need to appreciate the classic films for what they are and what they were at the time and not disregard them or compare them to the mainstream. They're worlds apart in most cases but within their own rights.

OH YES! Let the monsters fight!

I like the tree one better, it’s more funny.
