Let me clarify. I do not meant the eras I mean the continuity’s. For example, GMK is connected to the OG film and so is the rest of the showa, but the rest of the showa and GMK are not in the same timeline.
I like The anime continuity and I also like the GMk one

M O N S T E R V E R S E
It's not even close....

As long as Godzilla is there, I'll like it

The Showa era timeline! It’s one of the first cinematic universes, what more to say
Long live the king...

Showa, Showa and Showa. But not because of any connective tissue that makes up the concept of a "continuity". Rather the movies are just the best.
In terms of tight continuity that makes the best use of the concept, including great, stand alone movies, the Godzilla series falls pretty short. The Gamera Trilogy on the other hand is probably the best example of a kaiju continuity utilized with top tier quality.

I like the (tiny) tristar Godzilla (not really Godzilla) 1998 movie and the follow up series, (I still need to watch it)

kiryu saga.

Mosterverse is tied with the tristar one.

In all honesty, I'm just satisfied that the MonsterVerse managed to execute their general idea well...I think it's not as good as the MCU but it's still pretty great since I like most of the MonsterVerse's movies (with the sole exception of Godzilla 2014).

@sonictiger, you don’t like Godzilla 2014?

Also, don’t forget that TECHNICALLY GMK is part of the TriStar universe.
Long live the king...

Oh really?

I haven’t seen Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidora

I don't really like Godzilla (2014), the 2nd act dragged. The first 40 minutes were interesting enough but I got really bored at the hour mark and went to the third act. It's a slog of a kaiju movie, while I do appreciate it's realism and darker tone.

KaijuBuildz,
More of a retroactive thing.
The 1998 movie is part of its own continuity.
GMK just includes the 1998 garbage in its own continuity, due to the joke made at the beginning of the film.
So they're still two continuities since one doesn't include GMK.

Is it best to skip the 1998 one btw?
It's just that I want to make sure I'm not wasting my time...

I cringed at the word garbage but ok

The kyriu saga is good as well,
I think it’s a close competition

@sonictiger. Many people don’t like 1998 but I do and I don’t think you should skip it.

sonictiger,
I'm an advocate for watching everything to make your own decision. So watch it.
...but it's a train wreck stock piled on sewage to blueprint everything wrong with 1990s blockbuster filmmaking. Let's just say there's a reason marketing campaigns have not been as over the top since this thing. There's also a reason Maria Pitillo didn't have a career after this movie...

The taco bell campaign.

Ok, by saying, “everything wrong with 1990s blockbuster filmmaking,” do you mean that the original Jurassic park is bad?

Well, maybe I read it wrong.

SarcasticGoji,
The shelves and shelves and shelves of unsold merchandise and toys that point the Trendmasters toy company out of business...
Die-hard Spino Fan,
No. I mean the cliches of bad 1990s blockbusters were funneled into it without remorse.

Ok, because I'm probably going to watch some of the more important Goji films.
What I'm going to watch:
Godzilla (1954)
Mothra vs Godzilla
Rodan
Ghidorah
Destroy All Monsters
Godzilla vs Megalon
Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla
Godzilla (1984)
Godzilla Vs. Biollante
Godzilla vs Destroyah
Godzilla (1998)
Godzilla 2000
Godzilla x Mecha G
Godzilla: Final Wars
Shin Godzilla
Rewatch: King Kong Vs. Godzilla (1962), Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of The Monsters, and Godzilla Vs. Kong

oh ok

I don’t think it’s correct to classify certain films as more important than others

@sonictiger, how much time do you have on your hands to watch all of those movies?

Just the ones that are more talked about....

And I have the summer...
But I'm not doing this until KOTM and GVK return to HBO Max...
