Now this is what a Godzilla anime should be like. I cannot wait for this. This trailer cleared up my fears about Godzilla's appearance (mostly due to the recent poster). I am hyped!
This looks cool but the upbeat pop music of kind of lessens the awesome impact. Not a jab at the anime, its a pet peeve I have with all anime trailers, its looks really cool.
First of all, awesome! Second of all, Jet Jaguar's design originally annoyed me because it looked so goofy, but then I remembered that JJ is already a pretty goofy character so I can forgive it this one time. Third of all, (@1:13) was that Hedorah/Dogora/some weird fusion of the two?
I'm supposing that one man in the black and white still is supposed to be... like Serizawa for the world this takes place in? I'm honestly super hyped either way. I don't watch a lot of anime, but this looks pretty promising. I'm also wondering if that blue blob is hedorah. It looks like him a bit.
sonictiger, I don't agree in the least. This trailer has far more energy to it.
And this roar is much stronger than the Monsterverse roar. It has a lot more bass to it. I always found the Monsterverse roar too soft and high in tempo.
Xenotaris, Sorta. The first roar is a mixture of one of his 1954 roars and latter Showa roars--Which was an odd choice.
His roar at the end is also a 1954 roar. But that roar was pretty much used as the guttural basis for 1984 and modified further in Godzilla vs. Biollante and Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, before they switched to a higher tempo roar in Godzilla vs. Mothra.
The nuances are splitting hairs, but this has always been my favorite Godzilla roar. The last time we heard it in film is when Godzilla was frozen in Shin Godzilla.
Unpopular opinion, but I don't think this should've been a godzilla series. Ignoring the size, the plot about the red mist and the human story really doesn't have that Godzilla feeling and I feel like Godzilla is just here for 1: name recognition and 2: to set up the red mist plot.
I'm not saying this is a bad show, I'm just saying its a bad Godzilla series.
But then again, I could be completely wrong and this could be the best Godzilla anime of our time.
sonictiger, Why not watch it because it's anime. That seems like an odd reason.
Also there has been no official announcement that this has anything to do with "The World of Godzilla". Gojipedia is unreliable and probably not the best place for news/info unless it has been sourced.
Likely untrue. But between the two I'd rather the Monsterverse end and Toho start something new with Godzilla. I'm pretty bored with the Monsterverse at this point.
SarcasticGoji, The ShinGoji design is currently the highest selling and most marketable design in Japan right now. After the success of Shin Godzilla, merchandise for the movie hasn't seen much of a decline since 2016. ShinGoji is Toho's new flagship design until something proves to be more successful.
There are no plans for a Shin Godzilla sequel at the moment, but rumor has it Toho already has momentum for another movie in the not too distant future.
anime in general is alright, you shouldn't knock anime because of the rift-raft series just involves bouncy TNA. Also I'm a MonsterVerse fan as well but I'm excited for this new anime however I don't like the human character designs nor their names that much since I prefer anime styles of the 80's, 90's and early 00's but that's the anime fan in me talking
