King Ghidorah will have his iconic chirping sound effect roar in Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters according to director Michael Dougherty! After Dougherty tweeted the latest Ghidorah movie still from Godzilla 2, one fan comically asked if "But will he still go bidibidibidi...", to which Dougherty simply replied "Yes.":

So, this essentially confirms Ghidorah will have his iconic sound effect in the new movie! This also suggests Rodan and Mothra will likely have their iconic roars mimicked in the new film as well!

Wait. Does that mean he has his roar from the Showa era, and not the one from the Heisei era? Because if so, then that sucks because (for me, at least) the Heisei roar always stuck in my head more than the Showa roar did, with the Showa roar sounding like something meant for something silly, and the Heisei roar sounding like what a dragon should sound like. Oh well. Hope it sounds cool.

The Heisei roar is just Rodan's roar. Why would they use that when Rodan's in the movie?

The Showa roar is an iconic cackle that was used and hear more often. A variant of it was used in GMK to great success.

Ok, I didn't know that, and I'll give you that. Just because of that, I've changed my mind. Now we just wait for the film to see if it was worth it.

Good to know, I hope all the monsters have their iconics roars, or close homages.

I'm hoping it's appropriately updated, like Legendary Godzilla's roars, using the old effects as a baseline.

I hope that Godzilla has a more diversified roar that incorporates the iconic 54 roar... as in the low growling and most certainly the sound that when he looks down at Emiko and scares the crap out of her. That roar is ominous and I hope they use that at some point in the movie. As for Ghidorah's sound... a dragonesque roar combined with the traditional (but slightly updated) high pitched sounds that he is known for... that would be cool.

Iconic sound effects. What I hoped for. Maybe Godzilla's roar will be updated to mix the classical roar from either the Showa, Heisei and/or Millennium eras we all know and love with Legendary's too?

This reaffirms what Dougherty said in an earlier interview. He mentioned that they gave King Ghidorah his classic cackling roar. Good to see that's still the case, especially since Anime Ghidorah is getting the recycled Rodan roar instead.

Even more hyped with this and the possibility of Rodan’s old roar.
