Those who got to see Godzilla (2014) in an IMAX theater last year will agree, that nothing compares to the clarity and sound quality IMAX theaters offer its audiences. Due to IMAX's great success in providing moviegoers with the most immersive film experience, Warner Brothers have announced that both companies have extended their partnership through to the year 2020 and will continue to collaborate on many of the studio's upcoming, high profile blockbusters. One of which mentioned, was the highly anticipated sequel to Gareth Edwards' Godzilla (2014), Godzilla 2 which will land in theaters in 2018 - two years after Toho's new Godzilla film.
The announcement stipulates:
Under the agreement, IMAX will be part of a number of high-profile tentpolesfrom Warner Bros. Pictures, including The Man from U.N.C.L.E., In the Heart of the Sea, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Tarzan movie, the King Arthur movie, Suicide Squad, Geostorm, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Jungle Book: Origins, and Godzilla 2. The deal also encompasses a number of upcoming DC tentpoles, as well as future LEGO movies, including The LEGO MovieSequel.
The IMAX release of each film will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX's customizedtheatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
