Throughout Godzilla: King of the Monsters, fans received numerous glimpses into the ancient world where Titans used to freely roam the Earth. The film showcased Mothra's Temple, King Ghidorah's icy prison, and Godzilla's underwater home. Although, there was one notable exclusion- Rodan. Fans need not worry anymore however, for they can now finally see what the ancient worshiping grounds of the winged demon would have looked like.
During last night's Monsterverse Watchalong event, Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Mike Dougherty revealed never-before-seen concept artwork of the "Temple to the Fire Demon." The temple was situated inside of Outpost 56 (a reference to the release date of the original Rodan film). Outpost 56 was located inside of the volcano where Rodan was seen nesting during the film.
The temple includes numerous pieces of architecture that were based off of Mayan designs. The floors of the temple would have likely served as a worshipping grounds for Rodan's followers during the ancient era of Titans. It's great to finally see more of Rodan's Temple besides just the brief glimpse from the film's official art book.
If you could see what the ancient temple for one other Titan from Godzilla: King of the Monsters looked like, which one would you choose?
