Godzilla Minus One adds another historical win to its already massive list of accolades. Godzilla Minus One becomes the first Godzilla movie to win an Oscar and the first Japanese movie to win an Oscar for the Visual Effects category.
This past Friday, Minus One was honored at Japan's Academy Awards with 8 wins, including Best Picture of the Year. As the Japanese Academy does not have a Visual Effects category, the Oscar win completes Godzilla Minus One's already impressive award campaign.
