Godzilla vs. Biollante Composer Passes Away

Godzilla vs. Biollante Composer Passes Away

Square Enix announced Koichi Sugiyama passed away on September 30th. He was 90.

Sugiyama is best known for his work on Square Enix's Dragon Quest video game series and anime. Godzilla fans know him best for composing Godzilla vs. Biollante, but he started his work in the series by composing the song, "Defeat Hedorah!" from Godzilla vs. Hedorah.

Sugiyama was also known for his controversial social and political opinions. In recent years he recanted some of his statements, but was still considered an outspoken nationalist.

Sugiyama passed away of septic shock.
