MemberTitanosaurusNov-16-2016 9:15 PMNo words. There are no words to describe just how excited I feel. OH MY GOD THAT TOTALLY EPIC AS HELL THAT WAS THE BEST KING KONG TRAILER I HAVE EVER SEEN I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE! No words except those. That was seriously awesome and we can confirm other monsters! The wildlife of Skull Island viscous, menacing and beautiful. These aren't just your run of the mill dinosaurs we've seen on Skull Island in the past movies. We got kaiju! Kong is no longer the only kaiju on Skull Island. This is going to be great!!!!

MemberGodzillaNov-16-2016 11:14 PMOh my stars and garters! That is utterly fantastic! The scene in which Kong is striding slowly through the water reminds me strongly of the video game entitled Shadow of the Colossus! I am exceptionally excited to see this film! :)

MemberBaragonNov-17-2016 4:54 AMWow loved the trailer.
Fingers crossed it's not another bait and switch like in 2014.

AdminGodzillaNov-17-2016 6:05 AMI'm a little put off by Jonh C. Reilly. He seemed to really throw a wrench into the tone of the movie. I preferred the focus on Jackson and Goodman from the previous trailer.
That said, the visuals look solid and I pretty much adore everything regarding Kong--His design, how he's walking upright, how huge and majestic he is. My favorite shot is easily the first one Chris posted in the comments.

MemberMothra LarvaeNov-17-2016 7:09 AMI am loving this so far. Im glad its not just straight up dinosaurs on this island, we got 2 legged lizard thangs, giant ox, a weird
catapillar bug. im so excited to see the world that Legendary pictures is putting together. cannot wait for march :D

MemberTitanosaurusNov-17-2016 9:24 AMGman2887, While John C. Reilly did offset the tone a little, the initial purpose was probably to keep the natives and the main cast from killing each other. By the looks of it, His character has been on Skull Island for a while and must understand how dangerous the island is. He will probably provide some comic relief from time to time, but I don't think he'll completely ruin the tone of the movie. Besides, the movie isn't out yet so there is no real way to to tell if the overall tone of the film will be changed when his character arrives.

AdminGodzillaNov-17-2016 10:59 AMKingKaijuGojira,
I'm not speaking to the film just yet. The trailer itself was a bit jarring, tonally, and as a reflection on the film that doesn't exactly give me fleeting excitement. I hope Reilly's character isn't as off-putting as he is in the trailer, but at present I don't have a very positive outlook on his inclusion.

MemberGodzillaNov-17-2016 12:04 PMGMAN2887 - After some consideration, I agree with your assessment. Mr. Reilly's character seems a bit, hmm, "goofy". I liked his performance in Spielberg's War of the Worlds a great deal! If his performance in Kong: Skull Island is in line with that film, I will be pleased! :)

MemberTitanosaurusNov-17-2016 12:09 PMGman2887 and Something Real, I'm sure he'll do fine.

MemberGodzillaNov-17-2016 12:16 PMKINGKAIJUGOJIRA - I certainly hope you are correct in your assessment! I very much want this film to be an excellent adventure for us all! :)

MemberTitanosaurusNov-17-2016 12:18 PMWell Something Real, seeing as this is the first King Kong movie that isn't a remake of the original since King Kong Lives, I can safely say that it will be a one of a kind film.

MemberTitanosaurusNov-17-2016 12:56 PMI've seen a couple of Youtube comments saying that the skull crawlers could possibly be a reference to the two legged lizard from the original King Kong. I'm not sure that if that's true though.

MemberBaragonNov-17-2016 2:33 PMI thought the same thing as GMan2887 when I saw the trailer. Reilly was a bit off-putting, in contrast with the tone of the rest of the characters. In fact, as cool as this trailer is, I prefer the first, again just tonally. It seemed more ominous. Way early to tell.
@Ultrazero80 - When I saw those creatures in the trailer, the first thing I thought of were the strange two-legged lizards in the original. A nod, perhaps, especially since Kong's very appearance and stance are nods to the original.

Chris
AdminSpaceGodzillaNov-17-2016 4:22 PMI'm with you guys concerning Reilly's inclusion in this trailer. I totally get that he's supposed to be the comic relief, but it seemed a bit misplaced compared to the tone of the first trailer. I don't think his humor will bring the film down in any way, but definitely agree could have been left out of the trailer. It just didn't come across as serious. The opening bit before the Helicopter gets impaled by the tree, the subtle humorous comments were fine, but yeah Reilly seemed a bit over the top.
The Skull Crawlers remind me of the serpents from 2013's RIDDICK. The two legs, the way they move. Very similar.

MemberTitanosaurusNov-17-2016 9:52 PMI truly love it!

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaNov-17-2016 11:00 PMI'm about 98% sure the Skullcrawlers are a reference to the two-legged lizard in the original 1933 film. It's just too close. And of course the giant spider in reference to the lost spider pit sequence.

Something Real
MemberGodzillaNov-17-2016 11:15 PMGMAN2887 - Is it not true that the Spider Pit Scene was screened before an audience and removed due to the fact that it horrified many members? :)

Ultrazero80
MemberTitanosaurusNov-17-2016 11:28 PMGman2887- You know giving it a second thought you're probably be right.

KoldWarKid62
MemberBaragonNov-18-2016 3:50 AM@Something Real - It was probably removed moreso due to the fact that it temporarily derailed the plot moving along. It had no relevance to the overall story, since none of the main characters had fallen into the pit. In Jackson's KK, he had the main characters fall in, and seeing as he, like many fans, always wanted to see that "Holy Grail" of lost scenes, had it as part of the plot. I have always wanted to see footage of that scene as well, especially given my fascination with arthropods!

MemberGodzillaNov-18-2016 12:15 PMKOLDWARKID62 - Oh! Thank you ever so much for clarifying that information for me! How neat! :)
