Toho have launched their own official Godzilla website! The site is more of information resource and portal into various officially announced Godzilla projects. The site does feature a Monsterpedia section, which is rather fun to browse through. The new site is located at Godzilla.com (of course). Here's the official press release:

Feel the rumble as one of the most iconic monsters stomps its way online with the global launch of the first-ever official Godzilla website from Japanese entertainment studio Toho Co., in time for the highly anticipated film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters releasing on May 31.

Commemorating the 65th anniversary of its screen debut in 1954, Toho is connecting Godzilla fans around the world of all ages through exciting content from more than 30 films, comics, art, apparel, toys, encompassing the entire Godzilla universe.

“We’re thrilled to unleash a world of content around our most beloved Godzilla,” said Keiji Ota, CGO (Chief Godzilla Officer) at Toho.  “Fans have been longing for a universe that celebrates the all-mighty king of monsters and Godzilla.com delivers the most exciting news and stories about upcoming events, new merchandise and special releases as we commemorate the 65th anniversary of Godzilla.”

One of the most exciting features is the first official Godzilla Monsterpedia, unveiling everything fans have ever wanted to know about monsters (or kaiju) in the Godzilla Universe!  Monsters such as King Ghidorah, the three-headed monster and Godzilla’s biggest rival; Mothra, the guardian god of its maternal island; and MechaGodzilla, the giant battle robot modeled on Godzilla are featured. The battles among them and with humans are one of the highlights of the Godzilla movies. The more fans get to know about the kaiju, the more they can enjoy the exciting world of Godzilla.

Godzilla.com will be continuously updated as a source of news for upcoming Godzilla films including movie trailers and key art, events, fan content, new product news, and all future announcements.  It will also be a resource for Godzilla’s complete filmography including rare videos, wallpaper and much more destructive content including updates on epic Godzilla toys, apparel and lifestyle products.

Godzilla first appeared in Toho’s “Godzilla” (1954), a classic monster movie widely regarded as a masterpiece. The work launched a monster franchise that expanded over 64 years with more than 30 films. Over time, the franchise itself has evolved, as Godzilla and other creatures appearing in Godzilla films have become a metaphor for social commentary in the real world. The characters are no longer mere entertainment icons but embody emotions and social problems of the times. Godzilla has become a globally recognized icon, finding its way into worldwide pop culture and influencing many creative minds.

Founded in 1932, it remains a prominent force in bringing brands and original storytelling with versatile talents to audiences worldwide. Wikizilla's channel recently did some kind of livestream. I didn't watch it myself, but they titled it as "destroying Godzilla.com with facts", that sorta thing.

Seems like they don't think that site is good enough to be THE source of franchise facts and history.

do you have a link to the vid?

The livestream was done hours ago, and I don't think they've archived it at all. All I know is that, based on what I saw, Wikizilla's staff don't like the new Godzilla.com website serving as the official stop for learning about the franchise.

TheGMan123,
They have reason not to like it. It's woefully inaccurate.

Now why does that sound familiar? Lol ;)

The livestream, which I took part in, was entirely meant as a joke. Godzilla.com just launched a week ago and is clearly not finished. We just decided to do a stream and sarcastically riff on it by nitpicking silly things that only people editing a wiki would even care about while also pointing out the obvious actual errors like the ones GMan just posted. We didn't do the stream out of some insecurity that Wikizilla was threatened by the new site, in fact that didn't cross our minds at all. It's also not a legitimate concern given the current state Godzilla.com is in. The comedic nature of the stream should have been evident from the title alone.

Sorry about misinterpreting things. I don't generally participate in livestreams, so I didn't know.

Official sites rarely ever compare to fan generated communities anyway. Wikizilla and sites like this one will still thrive because our platforms were designed by fans, for fans, not a third party marketing firm. That's the beauty of fan sites and why they'll never fall prey to big wig sites.

Yeah, I really wish the people running the site weren't so woefully incompetent. How did they manage to get so much wrong? I really wish it was run by actual staff with knowledge. I know Toho would never let such inaccuracies be present. This is why Toho should stop giving their licenses to unproven people, they mess things up. First Polygon ****s up the anime trilogy, now whoever runs Godzilla.com is making it a joke. And to he fair, did we even NEED Godzilla.com? We have so many other established sites. This one here, Wikizilla, Tohokingdom, G-Fan, et cetera, et cetera.

Kaijucifer I know, right? It's the same thing with other franchises, too. If I had to choose between the Jurassic Park Wiki on Fandom or the official Jurassic World website (which acted like a website for the fictional park), I would go with the former because it is much more reliable and much more detailed. It's so disappointing. :(
