As reported last June, Zhang Ziyi, best known for her role as Yu Jiaolong in Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), will co-star in next year's Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The same report hinted at her possible involvement in future Monsterverse films by Legendary Pictures.
The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Zhang Ziyi will in fact return in 2020's Godzilla vs. Kong. It's been hinted by Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty that she may have a pivotal role with Monarch--The not-so-secret organization that follows/studies massive unidentified terrestrial organisms.
Zhang Ziyi joins the recently announced Julian Dennison. Godzilla vs. Kong is directed by Adam Wingard based on a writers room story led by Terry Rossio. Alex Garcia is producing.
