Top 5 Most Overrated Monsters in the Godzilla films.

I truely beleive mothra is WAY over rated in all of the movies. 

I sorta wish this wasn't limited to Godzilla films so I could write Bagan's name 5 times.

But I'm happy Bagan isn't in a Godzilla movie and will never, ever be in one.

Otherwise, I don't mind any of the monsters in the Godzilla series really. I don't mind that Mothra, MechaGodzilla and King Ghidorah are overused, to me it just makes them "series regulars." I enjoy the monsters even in the weakest Godzilla films to some extent-- it's not their fault they were written into poor films. I don't know. Other than Bagan I harbor little to no hate for the Godzilla monster cast.

I've always been different than most G-Fans in my opinions, so my list might actually scare some of you. Here goes.

Top of the list first!

1. King Ghidorah - This monster has a strong following, but in my mind he's not yet earned the right to be called Godzilla's "arch nemesis." In my mind, that title still belongs to Mechagodzilla as it's the monster who has come the closest to killing Godzilla. Had it not been for Fire Rodan in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, Godzilla would have been killed if Mechagodzilla had finished its attack unimpeded. King Ghidorah has never been able to push Godzilla to the brink as Mecha-G has, and in all honesty despite how badass he looks, he's not in any way Godzilla's most powerful or most dangerous foe.

2. Hedorah - This monster also has a strong following in some respects, but I have never been a fan of its strange and overly thematic design. It's never been a strong contender for Godzilla's most popular or dangerous foe, but remains overrated in my opinion.

3. Gigan - This guy is just weird. Chainsaw chest. Meathook hands and feet. Swordfish fins on his back. Lizard-like tail. Cyclops' eye piece. Just weird. I've never been a fan of Gigan, and I think that most of his following is reaching when they try to describe how cool and unique he is.

4. King Kong - King Kong is an American monster, and was never in a position to challenge Godzilla for any reason at any time. The only reason that Toho went through with the movie in the first place was because of the popularity of both monsters at that time. Today, a rematch would be nigh impossible without forcing contrived and over the top circumstances to scale up Kong to Godzilla's size. Even for the original film, as fun as it was to watch, Kong should have gotten his ass handed to him in each encounter.

5. Mechagodzilla - As fond of him as I am and despite him still holding the title of Godzilla's arch nemesis in my opinion, I still think Mecha-G himself is slightly overrated which is why he's at the bottom of the list. A lot of his weapons and ablities are somewhat boring, and the limits of technology have almost never been applied to him save for a few brief moments in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II and Godzilla against Mechagodzilla. The damage he received from Godzilla's attacks were minimal, and he almsot never suffered any serious damage phsyically or metaphysically from Godzilla's thermonuclear breath. Special coating or not, the concussive force would be enough to damage him no matter his armor.

So that's my list.

1. Kumonga- I'm not sure how big of a fan following this monster has but apparently it's big enough to land her in 4 different movies. Giant spider it's just so unimaginatve and stupid it should have showed up once, but nope 4 times, and 1 time she actually gave Godzilla a decent fight. Should never have been a monster, to begin with but 4 movies with her was just ridiculous.

2. Kamacuras- This could be 1 or 2, between Kamacuras and Kumonga for the same reasons. Very stupid concept, easily beaten but still came back, I think every fight with him against any other monster lasted less than a minute.

3. Mothra- Just too strong. It's a stupid moth, but she literally never loses, and if she does die to make it more insulting the baby, that's right the caterpillar ends up beating Godzilla with string. 

4. Ghidorah- I like this monster, but he appears way to often. A few less movies and he wouldn't make the list, but seems like almost every other movie Toho feels the need to include Ghidora, making him less of a menacing arch nemesis, as a basic enemy that gets beaten but never gives up. I'm pretty sure Ghidorah has been killed more than any other Godzilla enemy.

5. MechaGodzilla- Same reason as Ghidorah, a good enemy but just shows up way to often, and mostly in sets of 2. That's just too much MechaG to include especially when some of the series only include 6 movies.

I've never seen Biollante to be overrated due to the fact that movie never hit big in Japan and in the U.S.A. I'm not arguing, I'm just saying that Biollante needs to be in more movies to be seen as overrated.

And the film was made very well for a Godzilla movie, yea the music in the begining of the film could have been better but overall it's actually one of the best made, but sadly Biollante didn't have enough apperance in the film.

As for the 2012 American DVD release, honestly i am dissapointed on it though this is what i would have liked to see.
