AdminSpaceGodzillaJan-30-2014 2:03 AMSince the potential leak of the "potential" mobile game pics earlier this morning, I went digging through Google and discovered an article on Kotaku, from January 17th, 2014 in which they reveal that a "freemium" Godzilla mobile game is currently in development by an independant gaming company called Foundation 9. Here's an except from their article:
Finally, a former executive at independent gaming conglomerate Foundation 9—who owns the likes of Double Helix and Sumo Digital—reveals on his resume that a newly established mobile division of the company called Rogue Play is working on a "AAA mobile" tie-in for the forthcoming reboot of Godzilla. Rogue Play's site says they specialize in "midcore freemium games," so presumably that is the form this mobile Godzilla game will take. - Kotaku
So, it won't be anything incredible, since the description of their previous works doesn't really generate much hype, but the fact that a free, mobile game for Godzilla might be the beginning of something bigger? We all know how well received the previous arcade-style, fighting Godzilla games were. Hopefully we can see a next-gen version with whatever new Monsters are featured on Godzilla 2014!

I mean, dont get me wrong, its a fricking awesome idea, i love it. BUT, that means i will now have to buy one of those modern-day, fancy, touch phones.
As much as i love the Big G, he certainly loves my money pouch more than he loves me. Oh well, enough of my damn whinning.
A mobile game is a cool idea, but i wonder what its gonna be about. Well, Godzilla, obviously. But i wonder if its a "free roam/destroy things game" or as the image suggests, a cloverfield-styled "flee from Godzilla game?" Personnaly, i would LOVE both ideas.

But then again, it kinda makes sense to start out with a mobile game. Look at, f.eks the Pacific Rim tie-in game. It was allright, but didnt really earn in enough money. So making a cheaper mobile game, and see if there is money for a big-budget Godzilla game is smart.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-30-2014 6:22 AMSomeone may have mentioned this already, but PIPEWORKS, the developer behind the console Godzilla fighting games (Godzilla DAMM, Save The Earth, etc) , is a part of Foundation 9.
Maybe some of those folks are working on this? That would make me feel better...

Godzilla games need a new take-- a fresh start. There is a good chance this game isn't going to be anything special... but at least it won't be the cartoony, jumbled mess that Unleashed was.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-30-2014 1:41 PMi agree, it may not have been simon strange's fault for what happened to unleased but he pretty much uses the same formula, unleashed was fights with bigger maps, altough i'm pretty sure this godzilla mobile game will be anouther figting game like ste or unleashed or something like the pacific rim game, or could also be a tading card style game with cinematics.

And there are tiny mutos(not in movie, just for the game) that you have to shoot which will make the game a 3rd person shooter? Or maybe shoot week spots on a muto? A small one but not tiny... Hitvthe weak spits in the muto :P
