If you got to pick an existing song to be Godzilla's (2014) theme song, what would it be, and why?

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 10:40 PMPersonally, I think the song "Hail to the King" by Avenged Sevenfold would be very appropriate in my opinion. Not only because it's "Hail to the KING" but because even before the chorus kicks in for the first time we get lines like
"Children roam the streets, now orphans of war"
Something that we could see as a result of the war on Godzilla. Children being orphaned because their parents are considered "collateral damage".
"Bodies hanging in the streets to adore"
Pretty self explanatory if you ask me.
"Royal flames will carve a path in chaos"
"bringing daylight to the night"
The debris and smoke blocking out the sun over a recently thrashed city.
"Death is riding into town with armor"
Well, we've go the whole "I am become Death" thing that Godzilla has going for him, and he's an armored mofo.
Then you get that chorus that fits with how everyone's sort of saying about this 2014 movie.
"Hail to the king, hail to the one. kneel to the crown, stand in the sun..." and so on. I just feel that "Hail to the King" is a very appropriate song concerning Godzilla (2014).
IF YOU GOT TO PICK WHAT GODZILLA'S THEME WOULD BE, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 10:51 PMOh damn, I forgot about that song. Despite having the word "radioactive" in the title, it has nothing to do with Radioactivity. lol

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 10:52 PMCheater! I said you had to use something that's existent right now.
Primal King
MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 10:55 PMI don't know, Radioactive sound pretty good for this movie, depending on the action scenes. like "this is it, the apocalypse." or "It's a revolution I suppose." along woth "breathing in the chemicals" "I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust" All sound nice for godzilla. :)
"If you can't see it... It's already too late."

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 11:05 PM@Primal King, Godzilla was the first thing that came to mind when I first heard that song, I love it, I think it fits perfectly too, but there are A LOT of people who have gotten into some pretty serious arguments on here regarding that song. I just try not to talk about it haha.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 11:24 PMI dont want to hear a song in the movie.
But if i had to pick one, id go with "Godzilla" by Blue Oyster Cult.
It doesnt fit the tone at all, no, but as i said, i wouldnt want a song. So then i just might as well choose BBO`s Godzilla song. But if Radioactive was in the movie, anywhere, i would be annoyed.
G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaFeb-06-2014 11:48 PMIf it has to be an existing piece of music then I'd probably choose either Akira Ifukube's Godzilla theme, Michiru Oshima's or Reijiro Koroku's themes. Probably Koroku's themes from Godzilla 1984 . It looks like it would fit the new Godzilla best.
Rock/electronic/metal songs don't really work well with Godzilla and typically come off pretty corny when placed with images of him. I don't see that changing with the new movie.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-07-2014 2:52 PMAkira Ifukube's theme (think GvKG) is the only one that fits Godzilla in my opinion. And not a lyricized version or a version in a different genre/style of music. It must be orchestral. I can't imagine Godzilla having a theme from popular culture. It would make it much less serious.
