MemberTitanosaurusApr-08-2014 4:46 AMSo with NECA doing their Godzilla action figures for the new movie, there have been rumors of an S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla 2014. I'm pretty sure the rumors are true, but I could be wrong. My point, when would they reveal the action figure. I'm starting to think they won't reveal it until the movie comes out. I think the same can be said if S.H. Monsterarts intends to make a Muto action figure. But it makes sense not to reveal it until the movie comes out. So, anyone have any other suggestions/theorys regarding this topic?
Also did I spell the plural of theory right? In the last sentence above.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-08-2014 5:00 AMTheories is the spelling you're looking for, my friend.
As for this whole thing, I haven't seen hide nor claw of it, or heard anything related. My guess is that you are probably correct.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-08-2014 5:31 AMIt's spelled: theories
However, it's really quite minor compared to most of the other typos and incorrectly spelled words that show up on this site and the internet generally, so I wouldn't beat yourself up over it. At least you did ask :-)
Personally, I'm disappointed that they announced the reveal of the 1994 Godzilla instead of G2014 or something else more unique. It looked like a money saving move, rather than trying to treat consumers right. And it implies that any G2014 figure in the works is likely behind schedule or had some kind of hiccup.
Given that the CEO strongly hinted at an upcoming G2014 figure in an interview last winter (I believe the interview was with Tohokingdom), as well as pictures leaking from the S.H. MonsterArts booth at the recent Toy Fair which had a "Coming Summer 2014" poster for Godzilla 2014, I think it's safe to say you're right, that they will be releasing a figure.
As far as when they might announce it/release pictures...a toy announcement with the movie makes sense...except that the poster said the figure was this summer. But typically, S.H. MonsterArts releases pictures of their figures 4-8 months or so in advance. So if they waited until May to release pictures, we might not see the figure until September or later, which would be A: Unfortunate and B: definitely not the summer like the poster at the booth said it would be.
To fit within the "Summer" timeframe they've already hinted at, assuming they release G2014 on the same timeline they've released other figures, they need to announce it soon. Like early this month soon....
However...
They already announced the 1994 figure. It's pretty lame, but I feel the 1994 announcement is a consolation/substitution for a G2014 announcement. They don't want their figures to compete with each other, so they usually don't announce the next one until the most recent one is close to/already has been released. And Godzilla 1994 is being released until July iirc.
Long Story Short (I hope I'm wrong) but I think SH MonsterArts Godzilla 2014 is going to happen, but it has been significantly delayed from previous hints and estimates. They might ANNOUNCE the figure when the DVD for Godzilla 2014 comes out. And we'll probably have to wait until 2015 to get our hands on it :-(

MemberTitanosaurusApr-08-2014 7:06 AMActually that is a figure of Godzilla Junior as an adult. Remember at the end of Godzilla vs Destoroyah where we see the silhoute of Godzilla roaring in the distance and the only logical explanation is that Junior absorbed the radiation from his suragate father and was brought back to life as an adult. That's what the firgure is. I personally think it will make a nice edition to my collection, plus I missed the 1994 Godzilla from the S.H. Monsterarts line. The closest one I have to it is the Comic-Con explosion version. Back to the point. The new movie is a great oportunity (I think I spelled that wrong) for some merchandising. They will probably reveal it before 2015 otherwise it won't be special.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-08-2014 7:58 AMEh....I understand it's technically a different, 'new' Godzilla figure.
But it looks 95% the same as other ones they've made. They picked this one because it would be cheaper to make than a new one. They have most of the molds, pieces, and effects parts in supply.
Sure, there will be SOME differences between this one and the Heisei figures we already have. But $70.00 worth of differences? I think not.
And if SH MonsterArts already had figures out for all the distinct suits and/or all of Godzilla's villians/sidekicks, then I wouldn't begrudge them for a nitpicky release like this one.
But that's not the case, there lots of Godzilla's they could have done instead which would have been a more substantial addition to any collection. And the notion that they are releasing this INSTEAD of G2014 (G2014 was originally supposed to come out this summer as far as I'm aware, and now it's not...while this 1994 thing is...so yeah I don't what else to make of it).....That trade....TOTALLY not worth it.

MemberTitanosaurusApr-08-2014 8:15 AMPerhaps they did it for the fans who missed the 1994 release, like m self. Plus the only Atomic Breath I have is the Spiral Atomic Ray from Fire Rodan (who was totaly worth it) and this one is coming out with the Atomic Breath effects from the Toho effect set only in a slightly darker color. If you look closely, you can see it's a little darker. I still think it's worth getting. And I don't think it replaced G2014. He's on his way. Most of the info we have now was shrouded in secret until recently. Like what Muto looks like. Though it's still fuzzy, we have a good aproximationg. Godzilla 2014 will make his way to the S.H. Monsterarts line eventually. The more Godzilla action figures, the better.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-08-2014 9:11 AMTime to squash your speculation.
-S.H.MonsterArts Godzilla (2014) is scheduled for a summer release. (Most likely August for Japan, September for the USA)
-Toho has a restriction on all Japanese products revolving around the Godzilla 2014 film. Similar to the USA image embargo, but this is instead a PRODUCT resctriction. There is no current date when JP merchandise restriction will be lifted. A good estimated guess is May 10th at the Akiba Showroom when Tamashii Nation's debut's it's summer line up.
-The new Godzilla (Adult Junior) is a rehash of the 1995 figure. Not the 1994 figure. Nothing with this release is related to the 1994 figure in any way.
-Godzilla (Adult Junior) is actually the cheapest Heisei Godzilla released to date, at prices as low as $49.99 (not including shipping).
-There's still plenty of Heisei coming our way in the future. You can bank on more incarnations.

Well... considering the Adult Junior at the end of vs. Destroyah is just the 1995 suit with its "Burning" lights turned off, and THAT suit is just a modified 1994 Godzilla suit... you're kinda right. The new "Adult Junior" figure basically is the 1994 Godzilla...
I don't see the point of getting that figure if you already have a '94 Godzilla. They look identical.
KingKaijuGojira
MemberTitanosaurusApr-08-2014 11:55 AMBut the new one is more articulated. The 1994 didn't have an abb crouch. Plus this one comes with an Atomic Breath effect not exclusive to the first run.
Where did this conversation go from S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla 2014 to S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla Junior Adult?
