Okay, I've suggested it in the Godzilla video games discussions before, but seriously. Wouldn't anyone be interested in a game mode made especially for Giant Monster Movie fans, in which you combat your favorite monsters in a realistic military setting, much like the Battlefield games offer? Perhaps using different game engines to fit the situation? Battlefield 1943 for situations like the original Godzilla's landing in Tokyo, or too defend a city or small village from some other iconic Scifi creature? Or the newer Battlefield games, to reenact battles in more recent giant monster movies like the new millennial Godzilla movies, or even Cloverfield, and the newest addition to the Godzilla franchise appearing next year? And, as to not cause a large stir with people who are not fans of giant monster movies, make it DLC. If you don't want it, don't buy it! Gojira will return.

I like the idea. Although I prefer monster versus monster action, it would be fun to play as a soldier in a realistic setting. It conjures up some thoughts of the mutants in Final Wars taking down the sea monster Ebirah. I just can't see lasting more than two seconds against Godzilla, unless we're talking about the iguana from the Tri-Star film.

Well Im just looking for something where you play as SDF and fight off a monster or two. Not saying it has to be Godzilla. It could be Cloverfield monster, a Tripod from War of the Worlds, King Kong even. A durable enemy, that has a limited range where you would probably be safe in a row of tanks a good distance away from the target.
Gojira will return.

There's a pc nd consol game called Earth defense froce: insect armegeddon. It ha giant creatures that you try and kill to defend earth. If someone took the time to mod the pc version I'm certain you could swap out the aliens for godzilla or any other Kaiju. I suggest checking it out,fun game :D

Just today I was thinking about a JSDF game that would be a strategy/simulator mix with the main objective being either destroying or repeling Toho monsters while minimizing destruction of a city.

I imagine the mechanics would be similar to Battlestations: Pacific, where you could jump from a tactical map to direct control of a tank or a fighter jet, etc. The scenerios would be based on the movies and would include fending off kaiju, using your squardons to attract kaiju to fight other kaiju or assisting friendly kaiju like Mothra in their fight with others. Later missions would center around alien invasions, like the Xilians or Apes, what-have-you.

As the player progresses, credits earning from saving a greater amount of the city can translate into upgrade current tech and researching new tech like masers or mech suits. Capturing alien tech can translate into buidling advanced weapons, like MechGodzilla II and III.

I also think it would be awesome if Godzilla and other kaijus' appearance would change to reflect the film that inspired each mission. I would play the crap out of that game.
