THINGS TO FIND OUT:
• Did "Age Video" release "Godzilla vs. Megalon" in 2003? If so what does it look like? And what is "Age Video"?
And that's all the DVD/Blu-ray releases I know of for every Godzilla movie in the United States if I missed something let me know!
Damn, excellent list as far as I can tell. I confess I didn't release Goodtimes had released unlicensed discs so close to the Classic Media days. I never saw them in stores at least.
And I'm pretty sure the Megalon disc with the CD never saw the light of day, but... With Media Blasters you never know.
The Smog Monster/Megalon release by DigitalTech caught my eye. For a time the Megalon dub was considered public domain, so I understand that, but was Smog Monster at any point considered that?
I too was wondering that... I'm not sure
This is a wonderful list. Thank you for putting this together.
Host of the podcast Giant Monster Messages where we watch EVERY giant monster film and look for the messages.
As far as I can tell some older sites considered Smog Monster public domain, but all seems to be hearsay.
Hmmmm Interesting I wonder why that happened. And if it did why wasn't the AIP dub more available?
@EmptyH no problemo just happy this list is now available somewhere. I'm updating it slowly to include photos and I'm hoping I can get Heisei and Millennium added before the weekend is up.
UPDATE: I've added images for each DVD and I'm starting to add the rest of the films! I'll try and have everything done by tommorow!
Nice work. This is an excellent database.
UPDATE: It is complete all the discs have been added however I do have 2 remaining "releases" I know of however I don't know if they exist or fall under the classifications (see photos below) if someone has these or knows someone who does please send me the SKU on the back and send a photo of it. Thank you!
The second one was an alternate cover from a specific store back in the day. I've never seen the first. Are we sure it's a Region 1 release?
I'm pretty sure it is
Do you know if the Godzilla 2014 Blu-ray was just a different slipcover?
As far as I can recollect, yes it was just a different slip cover. I'll have to dig back into 2014 to confirm.
Ok well if you can 100% confirm that, it would be awesome I've been trying to find out for months now.
So here's the story about that 2014 cover. It was supposed to be a Wal-Mart exclusive. But it turns out it only appeared in Canadian Wal-Marts.
US Wal-Marts did receive that same exclusive cover, but for DVD only:
Hmm very Interesting... I wonder why it never came over here to the states. But hey one less copy for me to buy! Thanks for that tad of information. Now the list is one step closer to being completed. If you're interested in the remaining stuff it's at the bottom of list. Just a few things here and there. Also I've emailed Media Blasters and I'm hoping to receive a reply in the next few days
Ok I've tried to do more research on the Godzilla (2014) & Kong: Skull Island DVD but I can't find anything all I have it an apparent release date and a DVD cover and 2 people saying it did come out but no pure evidence
So I'm calling it that it doesn't exist
@G. H. (Gman) I was wondering when did those sites say Smog Monster was in public domain?
These sites date back to the early 2000s, so there's no real information on Smog Monster's public domain--Again, it seems more like these sites are following hearsay.
(UPDATE) From research some people have helped me with I have found out that "Passion Productions's Godzilla vs Megalon" was released in 2002!
Now it's just Godzilla vs The Smog Monster/Godzilla vs Megalon
Godzilla vs Megalon Blu-ray with CD which is looking like it never came out.
Hey G-Man do you think that this means it's a Canada release?
Is that the Smog Monster/Megalon release? DDC Labs is a distibutor based out of California, they do a lot of Canadian distribution, but they also distribute in the US as well.
Yes it is the "Smog Monster/Megalon" DVD
Out of curiosity do you have a link to a website for DDC or something cause I can't find anything
I couldn't find a website, but iMDB Pro had a listing for it. Do you have an account?
Unfortunately I don't, but does it say anything about this certain release?
No, unfortunately it only lists three releases--This not among them. There's not particularly a wealth of information on the distributor. I'm kind of wondering how legitimate it was.
Yeah, I mean it's a real disc but I don't know... With like you said the absence of info I'm curious about the company
Ok i found some info on DDC Labs https://pdvideo.fandom.com/wiki/Cascadia_Entertainment
So they were based in Canada... Does that confirm that yes this is a Canadian release?
Interesting. And it occurs to me I mistook the "CA" for "California". It stands for Canada and is based there. Though it did release some stuff in North America as well.
