Rumors that Kong will defeat Godzilla?
hawk4117
MemberMothra LarvaeMay-21-2020 4:31 PMPOSSIBLE SPOILERS:
There seems to be substantial rumors that Kong will indeed win “the battle” against the mighty Godzilla. It also appears due to some key sources that they will both team up to face a couple of so called “villain adversaries” such as Mecha-Godzilla and or Mecha-Ghidorah. Although I don’t fully believe in all of the latest plot /spoiler leaks and rumors, I do find a couple of them with some merit. If Kong is too win though, I just hope that the writers have it as a good clean tough battle, where no one is killed or maimed, and where there will be some kind of sign or gesture of respect from both of them towards one another after their battle. Then watching them both team up to fight whoever the bad villain maybe, would be entertaining. I’m a big Godzilla fan, and believe me I hate the thought of Kong winning. If this storyline is crowning Kong as the new King of the Monsters, then I will be pissed! I may never watch MonsterVerse again! To me Godzilla will always be King of the Monsters! Let Kong be King on his Island and let’s leave it at that. After all Godzilla is trouncing on Kong’s turf. What are your thoughts?

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-02-2020 7:42 PMI have read these posts, I'd like to add my thoughts. First, I am a Godzilla fan, best movie monster ever. This is how I see Kong vs Godzilla playing out. I think Godzilla will dye, either by Kong's hands or by injuries from MechaGodzilla. However, at the end of King of the Monsters end credits, it indicates a large egg has been found. Now, the director has indicated it is a Mothra egg, I think that is a ruse. I think it is a Godzilla egg. This is not out of line with another Godzilla movie-Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla and later in Godzilla vs Destroha baby Godzilla takes in all the radiation of the melting down Godzilla.
This plot would allow Kong and Godzilla to continue with further movies. And it would fit the director's comment that there will be a winner.
Any thoughts are welcome.

MemberGodzillaJun-02-2020 8:40 PMRamjet307 That also sounds a bit like G 98 except there were several eggs. Still, that could be a way forward for future films- but the MV would still be there?
hawk4117
MemberMothra LarvaeJun-03-2020 4:38 PMI think at the end of King of the Monsters end credits the egg is a Mothra egg, which is just my opinion. But if Godzilla is killed off, which I absolutely hate the thought of, then it makes sense that the blossoming egg of another Mothra could be what resurrects Godzilla back to life? Maybe?

*** Yes, hawk 4117, Kong will win. If he does I will also ban the Monsterverse just like you. I'm debating not even seeing it if I hear that Kong wins. Unfortunately there are a few pretty solid hints that he will:
1) There has been a question as to which titan will be the 'bad one' and why, with many thinking that Godzilla will be the more likely aggressor. But isn't he supposed to be the protector of earth? Why would he turn? While there is no evidence yet as to why, a statement at the end of KOTM foreshadows Godzilla becoming malevolent. After Godzilla kills Ghidorah, the character Rick Stanton comments, "Good thing he's on our side!", which Dr.Chen adds to by stating "For now", suggesting that something will happen that makes Godzilla a threat to mankind.
2) In a past interview with director Adam Wingard, he says that he loves movies in which the underdog wins, and he references the film Rocky IV in which Rocky is the clear underdog to the giant Russian, Ivan Drago. Rocky is just dwarfed by him and his strength, but ends victorious. I think Godzilla is the giant King of the Monsters and that in reality Kong wouldn't stand a chance. The statement subtly hints that the underdog Kong, like Rocky, will be the winner.
3) The most obvious hint though is that so far the ape has been simply called Kong. But isn't it supposed to be "King Kong"? Yes, that's right, he will be granted that name and title by the end of this film as the victorious winner, taking the crown and name away from Godzilla.
Neither will die, as it would leave the studios without the ability to make any more movies featuring that titan. And I firmly believe that at one point late in the movie they will team up to defeat MechaGodzilla.
The storyline may have changed though, resulting in the current delays and reshoots. The head of Warner Bros. said he wanted to make this "an A+ movie" after the severely underperforming KOTM. Most people think the delay is just a matter of a few simple reshoots and a bit of CGI refinement, but his statement could involve adjustments to the storyline, script, dialog, or anything really, in order to make it "an A+ movie". I think they're going through it with a fine tune comb to make sure everything is there to make it succeed and allow them the chance to make a rematch sequel.
As I said before, it makes me feel sick to think that Kong will take the crown and I'll maybe skip even watching it or any more Monstervesre films. ***

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-04-2020 11:30 AM****Yes Imerichunter we are pretty much on the same page. Based on some ending scenes of KOTM as you pointed out, there are hints that Kong will win. I’ve read in other threads the Rocky underdog scenarios as well. And when I read that Kong will be titled the new King, I was livid! Look, it’s my hope that the delay is because they realize they got the battle and ending wrong. Hopefully their changing the course of the script to NOT KILL OFF GODZILLA. We all know Kong won’t die any way’s. It’s not a Titan that brings Kong down. It’s a woman! Lol Your right, how can MV continue without the mighty Lizard! Lol As I said earlier in this thread there’s other notable Titans that could possibly keep MV alive for at least a couple more installments, providing the writers get this so called Kong victory fair, and NOT kill off Godzilla, and most importantly the movie makes a good chunk of money. If it tanks, then that would be it for MV I’m afraid. If the outcome is such that he does get killed off, then here’s my spin. Let’s say that somewhere mid movie the battle takes place and Kong defeats Godzilla and he dies. Then Mothra emerges and resurrects him. Then enter the Mecha’s – whoever it may be. Then Godzilla makes his new entrance and comes in contact with the so called villain Titan. As we all know Godzilla is always the one throwing the first punch. Kong happens to come on scene as Godzilla and the Mecha begin to battle, but Kong is a bit bewildered because he thought he had killed off Godzilla. He witnesses the battle from behind a ridge where both the Mecha and Godzilla don’t notice Kong watching. As the battle unfolds, the Mecha is getting the best of Godzilla. This is a very brutal dangerous villain Titan. Kong realizes that this Titan could destroy himself as well. Then this is where the compassionate side of Kong kicks in gear. He comes to the aid of Godzilla and they both team up to destroy the bad guy! Then after their victory they look at each other as if they’re going to fight again, but instead they actually gesture to each other some kind of Monster mutual respect and Godzilla walks away to give Kong his island back. As all of this is going down, on the other side of the script is Destoroya or another dangerous Titan that Monarch cannot contain or destroy, and he’s making some kind of entrance to more of the ending part of the movie, perhaps on the other side of the planet. This is the making of perhaps the next installment? Anway’s that’s a vision of mine that could ease the pain a bit I suppose! lol

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-06-2020 3:38 AM@hawk4117 I think YOU should rewrite the script! I loved that, and I bet some of that is right on the money! I can say that there is NO way they will kill off Godzilla, or either one, really. The studios will want to keep the franchise going as long as it makes money - and they have more options if both are alive. I hear what you're saying about 'getting the ending right', and I think your is brilliant fun! And, (sad that I know this, but) Wingard does reference that Rocky movie, and I think that one of the Rocky's ends with that kind of nudge...wink type ending. Then of course, there will have to be a rematch movie. I think that if this movie does well enough to keep the MV afloat, they'll make either the next movie or one after that a rematch.
I also get that nagging, sick feeling that comes with worrying kong will win. It's like you want to know the winner so bad that it's driving you crazy... BUT you're worried there's a good chance the answer is going to be exactly what you don't want. So you scour the sites every day for info but worry that you're going to find it. Or...maybe that's just me. That axe that Kong has, guarantee you the 'blade' part is one of Godzilla's dorsal plates that Kong breaks off. F**k that, I'm getting sick just typing it! The part you said about maybe the delay includes rewrites rather than just reshoots, I've had that same thought/hope. You should write a short script for fun-you're ideas were good. Anyway, may we never find out the winner unless it's the one we want!

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-08-2020 8:49 AMThanks imerichunter for your reply. We both share pretty much the same visions that are for sure. Yes I would love to re-write the script! lol My ideology would stay the same though if Kong were to win. There’s just too much substantial rumors that Kong will indeed win, but the ultimate worry is will Kong kill Godzilla. Like I said, if he does, then there better be a resurrection! MOTHRA to the rescue! Lol Someone told me once that Godzilla wasn’t always the good guy. Well that’s true to some extent. In the earlier Toho installments there were a few movies that depicted Godzilla as malevolent. But later Toho gave him a new hero/protector type image. Then he made his debut in the states and…well we all know that path thus far. I hope that some of the writers, producers, or any staff of this upcoming movie cuisses this forum and who knows! They might have read some other fan type scenarios and opinions, and are actually implementing some of them! Lol Wouldn’t that be a trip! Long live the KING! And it’s not Kong!

Personally, I don't care who wins as long as the movie's good."
^^^This anytime. The monsterverse may be coming to an end, I don't care if my favorite titan is defeated, if for whatever reason the monsterverse continues I won't get mad over it and even less cry and stop watching future movies for that reason, what nonsense that there are people who have that mentality, in any case they won't be missed, sorry if I'm harsh.

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-10-2020 1:20 PMGodzilla gonna beat Kong. I think Godzilla won’t kill Kong, possibly knowing that Kong has an island to protect. Godzilla is WAY OP!

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-11-2020 9:39 AMI think Godzilla will turn heel and get sick of humans. He kind of looked at them with disdain in KOFTM at the submarine scene. I think Kong will end up fighting for us because he felt closer to us in the end of his movie. Kong got progressively closer to humans and Godzilla got progressively further away.
hawk4117
MemberMothra LarvaeJun-11-2020 10:19 AMYes I remember the submarine scene. He could have easily taken that sub to the junkyard if he wanted to, but he didn’t. Look Godzilla is a bad ass. He doesn’t have the compassionate side that Kong has. But I also don’t think his inner drive is to kill off all humans on Earth. When he was in his layer rejuvenating from the oxygen bomb, and Dr. Serizawa went down there to set the timer for the nuclear warhead, Godzilla and he had an eye to eye moment before the bomb went off. Perhaps this is what entered his mind when he rose from the depths and was gazing at the submarine? He then decided not to attack the submarine and go after Ghidorah. That scene should speak for itself.

Exactly. I find it somewhat depressing that people have such a bigot mentality to where they can't even handle the fact that this movie will not go exactly their own way. Godzilla could defeat Kong without killing him, or vice versa; Godzilla could kill Kong, or vice versa; Godzilla could defeat Kong, and then they team up against an enemy, or Kong defeats Godzilla and then they ream up; or neither of them get defeated... This movie could go literally a million different ways, and no matter what, there will be an entire group of people who are disappointed. There's absolutely nothing wrong with hating a movie, but saying you're going to boycott it just because it won't go your way is ridiculous (also, why find out who wins ahead of time? That's kind of desperate and it ruins the experience). I really am not trying to bash anyone; you do you, that's fine, but it doesn't mean that these people aren't acting kind of ridiculous. If there's going to be one reason I don't see GvK, it'll be because if I hear it's garbage and not worth the money; not because the monster I'm rooting for looses.

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-11-2020 4:54 PMThere's passionate fans on both sides of the fence that has the right to piss, moan, bitch and boycott if they want to. Anyone who places judgement on either side and wants to bash shouldn't even be in this forum. There's no such thing as a wrong opinion.

MemberBaragonJun-11-2020 5:33 PMI'm really not trying to bash anyone personally, I'm stating a simple fact that I don't agree with what some people are saying... I think it's unfair to judge a movie based on whether or not it caters to your own expectations.
Also, of course someone has the right to "piss, moan, bitch and boycott," even when it's for futile or prejudice reasons.

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-11-2020 6:13 PMThat’s fine that you don’t agree with some of Godzilla’s fans opinions of pre-judgement even if it's for futile or prejudice reasons! Lol This is a Godzilla forum…..most threads I have cruised are awesome with your occasional smart ass (not insinuating you), but hey….it just goes to show how passionate we are! I absolutely love reading how passionate true fans are, even for the big Kong! I just hope we get to see a great movie and it’s done well and the ending is such that maybe, and just maybe, there might be another installment or 2. A lot of that projection though is based on how this upcoming movie will end.

MemberAnguirusJun-11-2020 9:40 PMUh, I’m rooting for both of them.

MemberBaragonJun-12-2020 1:54 PMI agree, what it really comes down to is how good the movie is and how the final battle/winner is executed. And yes, one of the great things about movies is how subjective they are... it's fun to share your own opinions with other people, and I find it cool how so many different perspectives can be formulated around just one film.
I do want Kong to win simply because I think it could develop the story in unexpected ways, but I do not want him to kill Godzilla. I think that the MonsterVerse has so much potential, and if it does continue, I would like the story to continue following Godzilla. Like I said earlier, it could go a million different ways, and I really have no clue as to what's going to happen

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-07-2020 12:31 PMas someone who studied the biological features of modern day reptiles and primates i have to give this one to godzilla even is they make them the same size and took away g mans atomic breath goji would stll have it in the bag because reptiles are MUck more sturdy than mammals and in the movies you can see that unlike goji kong is very easily taken down by a single battered military unit, whilst godzilla is unphased by most of the militaries weapons. btw, (and dont set me on fire for this) but i want to see character developement from goji. i mean he hasnt shown any character traits other that DESTROY. and befor you say "oh but he protects the earth" that is how WE see it but that could just be a side effect of what he is really doing.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2021 2:55 AMEven as a Godzilla fan, it'd be interesting to see Kong win... if it was done in a believable way.
But unless they're blatantly buffing King Kong or having half of the "Kaijuverse" gang up on Godzilla along with our primate friend, there's no way to achieve that, I think.
