Which modern Godzilla movie is your favorite? (2014-2021)9,465 Views100 RepliesAdd A Reply
In the past 8 years, there have been 7 Godzilla movies. 3 have been in WB and Legendary's MonsterVerse, 1 live-action movie has been made by Toho, and 3 anime films have been made by Toho and Netflix Japan. So, here's the complete list:
- Godzilla (2014)
- Shin Godzilla (2016)
- Godzilla: Planet of The Monsters (2017)
- Godzilla: City On The Edge of Battle (2018)
- Godzilla: The Planet Eater (2018)
- Godzilla: King of The Monsters (2019)
- Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
(In case you're wondering, while Kong: Skull Island is part of the MonsterVerse Godzilla is not a part of that movie's story and so that doesn't count)
So out of all of these movies, my personal favorite is GVK as the movie has great action and a coherent story. So, what's your favorite modern Godzilla movie?
Sound off in the comments below!
Yeah I figured
What about SP (at least the people who have seen it)
Singular Point is a TV series...
Oh wait u said movies
You sorta just proved how much smart the original King Kong vs. Godzilla was by showing you didn't get it. It wasn't making fun of wrestling. It was making fun of television broadcast marketing and commercialism. It was poking fun at how stupid it was to make a movie of Godzilla and Kong fighting, because the only reason a movie like that would exist is for commercialism. (Ala, 2021.)
Mine(and my family's)favorite is GvK

Oh the irony... *Looks at GvK box office numbers*
I mean... case and point. When you market a movie only meant to pull dollars, it works.
Actually Chris, that’s not Ironic. Irony is the opposite of the expected outcome. So a movie made primarily for commercial reasons would naturally be expected to do well. It would be Ironic if it didn’t.
As much as I love KotM, it has to be Shin for me!
Long live the king...
Shin Godzilla definitely.
@SarcasticGoji, No what I meant by ironic was that a lot of people today take the modern GvK as a serious movie but in reality it is just as a ridiculous pairing as the original. The context of history repeating itself.
big monke fight big lizard
yeah i kinda see what you mean
5.planet of monsters
7.city on the ege of battle
A Big Monke fighting a Big Lizard is fun. But ridiculous at the same time.
I swear in the next 59 years, there will be another GVK where Kong wins
Oh... Then I agree. You’re right, a giant ape fighting a nuclear dinosaur, then fighting a Robot Nuclear Dinosaur which is possessed by a Three Headed Electric Dragon from Space, does sound ridiculous.
Godzilla is the greatest franchise ever.
It's great, but not as great as the MARVEL Cinematic Universe!!!!
*Instantly Rage quits
Though Godzilla invented the Cinematic Universe way back in the 50s and 60s
Yes it did but MARVEL perfected it
*More Rage Quitting.....
What's wrong with Marvel huh?
Rage quitting isn't very cash money of you btw....
I’m fine with marvel... I do not stand it being called the best thing ever tho. MOVIES LIKE GHANDI ARE THE BEST MOVIES!
Ok, those history movies about politicians are BORING.
and for godzilla's sake here, Marvel has made less bad movies than Godzilla. Here:
Bad MCU movies:
The Incredible Hulk
Thor: The Dark World
Iron Man 2
Bad Godzilla movies:
Anything with Minilla
I like how anything with Minya is in there
Minya is ugly....
destroy all monsters is bad then? (I thout it was pretty good)
I forgot that one
