This thread will act as a debate platform for fans to discuss the differences and competition between Legendary's Godzilla and Toho's Shin-Gojira from Godzilla Resurgence.

We can separate the debate into 3 main categories:

Design and Concept

Which Godzilla has the better design? Which influential concepts did the King of the Monsters the most justice?

Abilities in a Fight

If the two Godzillas ever met and engaged in combat. Which one is more powerful? How would that battle play out?

Film Style and Quality

Keeping in mind both are completely different styles of film, this category is likely to spark some diverse opinions. Those debating this category should be familiar with both film's backgrounds and messages.

Regarding Godzilla Resurgence, many debate points will need to wait until new footage and/or the film is released. As right now, we don't know much about Shin-Goji's abilities and film style. For now however, the design is open for comparison and debate.

Let them fight...

"I just saw Shin-Gojira today"

Just today, eh? ;)

Ease up fellas. A little less personal attacks, more attacking the opinion. This isn't lock-worthy, just a reminder for everyone to

"'Nostalgic' does not equal 'good,' and 'standards' does not equal 'elitism.'" "Being offended is inevitable. Living offended is your choice."

Shiro, I can consider you agreeing with him as a full betrayal. I had seen pieces of the film prior, but only saw it in its entirety yesterday. I've been here for awhile, and I've debated Ben a handful of times--I know how the argument goes.

It becomes an insane back and forth, with no furthering or realization--on both ends. That's why I truly don't debate anymore. I never said I got mad, at all--anyways getting too far off-topic. Currently awaiting Ben to refute the positions made on my last comment, and then I will respond.

Good grief.

Yeah, TheGman nailed it. If Shin-Godzilla could keep him at bay, hammering his shell with those beams--Legendary would die pretty easily. But, Legendary has enough durability I know based on evidence, and enough muscularity--to either dodge these beams, wear out Shin-Gojira, tackle him--and end the fight.

That is my analysis, awaiting a response.

Good grief.

Gg, your whole comments here on this whole thread say differently. You acted like you seen the whole film before actually seeing it for the first time yesterday in full. You just said you never get mad Yet your comments on this thread tell a different story.

I'm not pulling this stuff up as a personal attack. I am showing you, your lies. Your lies find you out, Gg.

And to top it off, you just personally attacked Shiro by saying "you find that as a betrayal" because he agreed with me?

Again, it's not a personal attack. It's pointing out your lies. Now then, just for the sake of this whole thread, why don't we move this to the PM'S?

I've seen it in the theatre, but missed the first 30 minutes. I saw it in full yesterday. I saw it again, but traffic held me up--and I missed the first ten minutes. Just yesterday did I see the whole thing. I did not lie about anything in what you just posted lol.

Shiro and I are friends, I'm joking by the "betrayal". You now, are changing the subject. If we don't move back to arguing Godzilla 2014 vs Godzilla 2016, I'm not going to respond.

Good grief.

Well lets see, going off your previous comment here, Shin Godzilla can't withstand the onslaught of 2014? I doubt that. Considering the fact that the bombs hurt 2014 and not shin.

Even if 2014 tips Shin to shreds like you're suggesting, it won't do no good. May I remind you that Shin Godzilla is capable of self reproducing or regenerating similar to Reptilicus and the gargantuas? If Shin was blown up or torn to shreds, each piece would become a new Godzilla. So, instead of one, there would be 100's of not thousands of him. 2014 would not be able to take on that many. He barely took on 2 different monsters then. And unlike 2014, Shin Godzilla can detect movement.

I wasn't dishing anything out, please don't fall back to the weak concealed insults.

Nonetheless, even fi Shin were to be blown to shred and attempt to regenerate--or reproduce like he did at the end of the film--Godzilla 2014's purpose was to stop the MUTOS from reproducing, he would kill the kids with his atomic breath.

Good grief.

"I wasn't dishing anything out, please don't fall back to the weak concealed insults."

I didn't mean it like that. You're dishing out the 2014 debate and I'm throwing in Shin. I can't help you don't like it when I bring up the weak points of the film.

I mean, you come up with wild @## goose chases like "It took weeks and days." if it took weeks to travel from Hawaii to California, then these monsters in 2014 are by far the slowest animals to date then.

Also, saying it would kill the babies with the atomic breath is rather moot because like your precious 2014, radiation is a food source. It would dramatically increase the growth rate because radiation is it's energy source.

It was days of battling, weeks was indeed an over exaggeration. I highly doubt infant Shin-Godzillas could handle the heat of Godzilla's beam.

Good grief.

MemberBaragonOct-24-2016 2:04 PM

Gg, it was a night time battle with the male muto at Hawaii. They both took off to San Francisco during the daylight and made landfall during the daylight. Then the final battle ensued during the night time. So, in conclusion only 2 days.

Thank you for capitalizing on your exaggeration on the Weeks part. Now we're getting somewhere.

If you paid attention to Shin Godzilla, the radiation which also emits extreme heat is what causes Shin to evolve. And it's also a perfect organism. It can adapt itself to anything. And as long as there is oxygen and water, it can live anywhere.

Plus, the heat it was emitting was so hot that the temperature of his freezing was -196 degrees Celsius. That's cold but, it took gallons and gallons of the coagulante in order to be effect. Even then, he still had a faint glow in his spines to start his atomic ray before finally freezing.

Wouldn't call it capitalizing--admitting I was wrong?

Yes, that is Shin-Godzilla--the final form of the most destructive Godzilla. But, if we're talking about Legendary Goji eradicating him, but him reproducing last minute--I, am pretty certain that the infant younglings don't possess the same power lol.

Good grief.

Huge-Ben

MemberBaragonOct-24-2016 3:09 PM

Capitalizing, admitting your wrong, either way, you came up with a lie on the film to try to make your debate stronger and it didn't work. So yes, Thank you for correcting yourself. It is highly appreciated.

And again, he was emitting heat early on. That's one of their first discoveries besides it was leaving radiation behind. So, in conclusion, it's been emitting heat ever since it came out of the water. It only returned to the water to cool itself down because of the intense overheat it was emitting.

So, the poorly dubbed "Eelzilla" and poorly dubbed "Turkeyzilla" were emitting heat the entire time. Saying it doesn't possess the same power may be right but, it's not going to kill either form.

"Godzilla 2014's purpose was to stop the MUTOS from reproducing,"

Then he failed his purpose. The MUTO did reproduce and a poorly written EOD character had to handle them.

You sure love the word "lie". An over exaggeration, lack of knowledge on particular subject maybe, not a lie. Stay on subject, don't devolve to insulting your opponent--or you won't have one.

I don't even know what to refute in what you just said, please rephrase. Gman what you just said is not true, Godzilla was busy battling--it can be inferred that he was going to fry the eggs immediately after dealing with the beasts. But Ford took care of that for them.

Good grief.

"Stay on subject, don't devolve to insulting your opponent--or you won't have one."

? Is that supposed to scare or intimidate me? Yeah, I pointed out you lied on a subject. It's not devolving to anything. It's simply pointing out that truth hurts. You don't have the power to ban people anyway Gg. That's staff and admins. That's actually more insulting on your part. You are a moderator after all. Aren't you supposed to sit and lead by example? The only thing it will cost me is PM'S with the staff and admins and maybe our friendship.

There's nothing wrong using the word "lie." sorry if you're getting offended here but, lies eventually catch up and the truth does hurt. Gonna take this to the staff and admins now. You sent out a threat. Not very mature or moderator like.

? I didn't send any threat, I said that I will leave the discussion. I did not lie also, I did not know lol. Okay, Moderators keep articles on subjects--this is going way too far off. All I said was to stay on subject, and not say I'm lying, which I'm not lol. Even if I could ban you I would not.

Good grief.

Guys I've already said it once. There's no need to close this thread yet, stop making accusations of one another, stop twisting what each other is meaning. Calling each other liars and assuming one is making threats is still not attacking the opinion. Ease. The hell. Up.

"Gman what you just said is not true,"

Unless I'm watching a different movie everything I said is true. Godzilla failed to stop the MUTO from reproducing, just as I said. The eggs had been laid.

"it can be inferred that he was going to fry the eggs immediately after dealing with the beasts. But Ford took care of that for them."

You mean the beasts that were busy pummeling him to a pulp and would have likely killed him had Ford not been the one to distract momma MUTO by cooking some eggs? Cool.

That doesn't change the fact that, once he had time, he was going to kill those eggs. Gosh, feels like the same discussions we've had two years ago xD.

MemberBaragonOct-24-2016 6:38 PM

Wow. Still hard to believe 2 years have gone by this quickly.

Umm...without human intervention, Godzilla wasn't going to get back up from the beat down he was receiving from the mutos.

I think I'll chime in as the guy who WON'T be coming in with any previous baggage, eh?

If we go by VS. debate standards, Shin Godzilla isn't allowed to use anything beyond what he's demonstrated, same for Legendary Godzilla.

With that in mind, let's continue, shall we? The individual cells in ShinGoji's body undergo nuclear fission, which is how the main body has enough power to move and evolve. However, the process creates immense levels of internal heat, which is why he needed to make trips to the water, release heated blood, and shut down when he overclocked that process.

Legendary Godzilla is only known to consume radiation, not produce it from some kind of internal reactor system. However, his atomic breath is powered by that radiation, so it stands to reason that using it would drain him. According to the novelization and calculations done by some people on the internet, LegendaryGoji's breath is actually a gigantic natural plasma cutter, a real-life tool used for cutting through metals. The power source is radioactive, but the application is not.

The heat produced from nuclear fission processes is likely not as high as that of a plasma cutter, and, given it's non-nuclear status, Legendary Godzilla's atomic breath could make short work of Shin Godzilla if he could get in range. As well, Shin Godzilla's beams are radioactive, meaning that, though powerful, Legendary Godzilla could theoretically feed off of them.

Darth Shiro

MemberTitanosaurusOct-25-2016 5:06 AM

Yeah but so would Shin! He feeds on radioactivity too. Also don't forget that if Shin's rays hit G14 it would...cut him...
