3rd teaser drawings of my 1954 godzilla graphic novel (still in the works)

These images are stark, eerie and beautiful at the same time-just like the incomparable 1954 original film. The profound tragedy and horror in Gojira juxtaposed against the heroic efforts of the military emegency aid workers, along with the personal struggle of Dr. Serizawa constitute one of the most moving narratives captured on film.

I am looking forward to this.

Your drawings remind me of little things, subtle moments from the film that contribute to it's greatness and make it so valuable. There's the scene of Dr. Serizawa in his laboratory watching the destruction of Tokyo. Or his reacting to the choir at the girl's school, their moving voices convincing him to use the Oxygen Destroyer. Then, later on, now fully resolved, there is a peace in his face that is quite apparent when he tells Emiko not to cry as he is about to destroy his notes about his deadly invention. He almost seems relieved.

I will tell you the same thing i have told moderator "gman2887." That is i am the kind of person who likes to leave things true to their source material and not change a thing at all. :)

I am glad to know that these images bring those scenes to life in your mind when thinking of the original masterpiece, and you should know that i will be posting up the 4th teasers this friday around 4-6:00 eastern time, so be on the look out for them as well. :)

Just out of curiousity when do you think you will have this fully done? I mean this is truly amazing artwork it is so precise to the movie man. You have an amazing talent there BIGBADBEN, please keep this up! I really look foward to this when it is fully done.

Very cool. They all look great. Might I suggest upgrading to an actal drawing pad. You know, with no lines. Your work deserves that.

Can't wait to see the comleted Graphic novel......but you must use better image capture Ben, to do your work justice! :)

Also, I love that there's no colour as it enhances the link to the original Gojira! Really skillful pen[pencil]manship!

Of these great, hauntingly beautiful drawings, one of my favorites is the one of Godzilla as he loomed over the hill on Odo Island.

It’s evocative of the feel of the film. Godzilla’s expression, there’s almost a nobility to it. The fear and awe generated from his first appearance are mixed, even on Odo Island, with a kind of sympathy for him. He’s a victim like Serizawa, Emiko, Ogata and Tokyo’s populace.
