Godzilla 2 Movie Poster

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (Godzilla 2) is the upcoming sequel to Legendary Pictures' and Warner Bros. Pictures' Godzilla (2014) movie. Directed by Michael Dougherty, Godzilla: King of the Monsters will see the introduction of other Toho monsters Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah. All three superspecies will vie for dominance of Earth and Godzilla will rise again to restore nature's balance.

Should Mothra be an aid to Godzilla in Godzilla 2?

Godzilla 2 will feature Mothra, Rodan, Ghidorah and Godzilla. Many already assume that Ghidorah will be the antagonist with Rodan, Mothra and Godzilla acting as Earth's defenders. However, if the "realistic" and serious tone of the first film is anything to go by, we likely won't see the 3 protagonists fist bumping and taking part in a WWE style wrestling match anytime soon. Giant, territorial creatures likely won't be friendly to one another. But I'm curious if Edwards will have one or more of the Monsters "team up". Of them all I see Mothra being the most likely. But if so, how do you think they'll work it into a relatively realistic story? Let me know what you think.

CHRIS PICARD - I very much hope that Mothra will be an aid in some way, shape or form to Godzilla! I can see Ghidorah and Rodan perhaps acting together in a destructive capacity, forcing Godzilla to rely on Mothra for air support against the pair of flying baddies! :)

I think Mothra's general appearance and persona lend themselves to a role as a support for Godzilla.

She can still be imposing and massive, but benevolent at the same time. I'm looking forward to see what Legendary and Gareth Edwards (and Weta) come up with.

I personally think Godzilla should fight against Mothra and Rodan. Even see those 2 "team up" against him. That victory would definitely show how powerful Godzilla is, and in the movie introduce Ghidorah but not make his full appearance till the end of the film. Even if they go the original meteor route like 1964's Ghidorah the Three Head Monster let him lay dormant and have that as a side story for Monarch and set up for the next film. Kong vs. Godzilla. Make Ghidorah the Antagonist of that film! Let Godzilla and Kong duke it out early in the film cause we all want to see that but let those two "Team Up" to take down King Ghidorah. The 3 biggest and most historical giant monsters ever filmed tearing it down. That would be the way to do it in my opinion. We know we would all be mind blown by that fight.

Do not see how you could turn Godzilla from a hero to a villian in just the second mmovie without losing all continuity. Mothra has never been a villian even in her original movie. Think it will be wrong to try and add all three monsters to this movie unless you are looking at a remake per se' of the movie  Ghidra. Would be more favorable to go with the Monster Zero premise and just have either Mothra or Rodan join but not both. You sure as hell do not want to go the way of All Monsters Attack and make Ghidorah a good guy and Godzilla the villian.  I still puke when it is time to watch that one movie in my line up. Choose one of the two or do not use any of them.
