Considering my obsession with the neat little HG gashapon Godzilla figures, I was clamouring for a new set to be released to accompany the release of Godzilla: King of the Monsters coming out in May.
Well...I kinda got what I was hoping for. It turns out that Bandai will be releasing a new line called Godzilla HG D+ which will basically be little balls that can open up into mini dioramas that feature monsters. The set you see in the photo is Godzilla 01 which means it's the first set.
This could mean that we may get more HG D+ sets with the 2019 versions of Mothra and Rodan as it has Godzilla and King Ghidorah, along with the 1954 Godzilla and Shin Godzilla.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad bit bummed out by this, probably because I'm so used to the regular figurines in the past HG lines. Who knows, maybe there will be an old-school gashapon set, the only hope for me at the moment is that I'm hoping they can come off of the dioramas :D
What do you think of this new and interesting direction?
