Myself being a fan am very familiar with the music Akira Ifukube has used to score Godzilla. His music is well known to all fans as the iconic Godzilla theme music.
I'd love to see the 2014 movie start just like the original 1954 movie. You hear the footsteps and then as the name comes on you hear the guttural original 1954 roar. Then the music plays. someone even posted it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldHVICaTXrM
That would be awesome to see the movie start that way and it directly linking to the first movie made 60 years ago. Besides Godzilla's famous theme music is a must for the new movie. Fans will love it. Anyone hears that ostinato theme knows Godzilla is back.
As to the roar I believe LP should use the original 1954 roar and foot steps. The original sound much more intimidating and frightening than the classic roar of the 60s and 70s that most people think of as Godzilla's roar. no. Given the nature of the new movie I believe the 1954 roar should be used again. I mean listen to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRYq58QPTk8
I grew up seeing Godzilla 1985 as my first movie. My favorite scene being when he blasts the military at Tokyo Bay. Someone even posted the fight scene between Super X and Godzilla. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oFn7JwwG6Y
The crew of Super X is firing everything and he is not stopping. He fires back and all hell breaks loose.
I think it's great Akira Takarada is in the new movie as I was at G-fest 2010 when he asked to be in the new movie. He also was there last year and I got to meet him in person. Akira is very nice and speaks fluent english.
I think he should play Hideto Ogata from the original 1954 Godzilla in this new movie. Ogata was the first to see Godzilla back then and survived.
