AdminGodzillaNov-13-2013 5:42 PMMax Borenstein, one of the writers of the new Godzilla, recently tweeted this:

What does this mean? Well not too much exciting. But it does mean that a workprint version of the movie is probably completed and that Max Borenstein probably saw an early cut with unfinished special effects, sound and music.
The good news is a complete, early cut makes it easier to pick shots for trailers. The bad news is workprints typically need a lot of special effects and sound work. So if an early cut was just recently completed (we don't know the exact time table, though) I would assume there wouldn't be too many effects shots in the first trailer.
Credit goes to Jorzilla on the monsterzero forums for finding the tweet.
On another subject there's a new (I think) interview with Edwards, Johnson, Cranston and Olsen. (At least I've never read it before.) Some interesting stuff about the film's production is mentioned in it for the movie buffs in the crowd. I'm not sure if it's a new interview or an old one that's been re-posted. Either way, it's worth a look.

MemberMothra LarvaeNov-13-2013 7:01 PMCool bit of news! This is very exciting to hear. While we may not get a lot of cool effect shots, we may get some already made ones from the Comic Con trailers. Now some simpler sounds/effects could be added.

MemberMothra LarvaeNov-13-2013 10:33 PMWhere do you surmise all this from, "Just saw my favorite movie of next year."? How do you know he didn't see the complete movie? It's hilarious how you simply run off on some tangent making crap up as you go along. Probably did this, probably did that. What I read is, "Just saw my favorite movie of next year." not, "Just saw my favorite 'workprint version' movie of next year" or, "Just saw my favorite "early cut" movie of next year."

The movie is still five and a half months away. There's no way the movie would be finished by now. Besides, studios don't simply let finished products sit around and do nothing unless there is a distribution problem-- more often seen with indie flicks.
I also plainly explain much of this is my own speculation. But since you asked, I'm also basing my assumptions off of five years of film business education, two years of cinema marketing experience and three of actually working on both sets and pre-production.
What Mr. Borenstein said is that he's certainly excited about the cut he watched. What it tells us is that there is a version, likely unfinished, that is closing in on completion. Take it as a progress report and not much more-- which is plainly explained in a couple of my early sentences: "What does this mean? Well not too much exciting."
I apologize if such speculation was too much for you to handle.

MemberMothra LarvaeNov-14-2013 7:18 PMI agree with GMAN the movie cant be done yet because there still doing some acting like for the movie. and also they cant release a movie if someone had seen it so im saying Borenstein didn't see the movie i think he only saw the clips of maybe a scene or something?
