MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 4:43 PMLet me preface this by saying I am SO excited for this movie and I can't have that hunger for any little detail we can get like so many of you. Also I'm not intending to offend anyone with this.
I'm not one to start commenting on blogs or getting into debates. I have a Facebook and that's it, no Twitter, no random other social program... that's it. I started following the Godzilla page on there that links to this site because I've been following this movie for years and am uber excited to see the fruits of Gareth Edward's work. I've commented on various things of the past month or so normally trying to clear up conflicting facts if I've seen them confirmed or whathaveyou. Honestly when I joined all of you who leave comments on here seemed like the nicest community I've seen on the internet in a while.
What happened?
Over the past few weeks I've seen a lot of things I haven't liked. People posting topics that are intended to do nothing but further the argument that their view of how advertising should work is correct and everyone deserves to know that (you know who you are). People getting pissy about conflicting information and toy pictures. People straight up trolling the site (seriously, how sad, alone, and boring is your life that you have to do that?). People straight up trying to promote bad information. People trying to put down the movie before it even comes out.
I check this site for the news and once in a while a discussion with like minded Godzilla fans (of which I have few friends who qualify seeing as they're not big fans of the Big G). Sure, we don't always know if what comes through from Chris is accurate. However, I know he tries his hardest and often it doesn't end up being too bad. If someone thinks a trailer will come out this week and it doesn't, while I'm disappointed, I know I had a week of hope and a week of letting my imagination run wild as I went about my daily life thinking about what this film will be. So a toy isn't accurate, so what? Often the work on them is amazing and I could NEVER create anything close to it. Those Biollante vs Godzilla figures were spectacular Chris! Those CGI art renderings with different Kaiju were beautiful!
So what if the information or rumors aren't accurate? It's still fun to talk about and debate about. If you don't like it, there are billions of other sites on the internet (that AREN'T porn) that you can go to whether about this movie or Godzilla in general, not to mention plenty of more important issues to get pissed off about. So you hear conflicting rumors who cares. I see other cites leaking the same things I see on here so I know it's not just Chris's fault.
Bottom line, since I'm starting to ramble, if I wanted to see people at each other's throats I'd go to a political site or I'd go to any story on IGN talking about Titanfall and read the PS4 fans leaving thosuands of comments bashing the Xbox. We're supposed to be a community united in our love of the King of the Monsters... can we start acting like it? If not I'm just going to shut down my account, read the News articles that are posted so often, and check IMDB Godzilla news for things.
Peace, and thank you Chris for running this website.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 7:49 PMHello there. I'm a regular visitor of this site, I'm psyched about this Godzilla movie and its startling to see how many others are, too. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But what does surprise me is how seriously everyone is taking every little detail.
That shouldn't surprise me either, I suppose. I'm a long time poster on the Prometheus site and couldn't believe how seriously, even personally, others were taking the slightest little thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm passionate about science fiction, Ridley Scott and the Alien universe. And I loved Prometheus. But what disappointed me was the fans, and how riled they were.
One thing that never happened there, though, ( that I know of) was taking Chris to task for hiccups in the info stream. Chris is awesome, dedicated to the medium and apparently tireless. He's only ever been fair as a mod and has set a very responsible tone. I say if you're dissatisfied with the service, try opening your own site! It's a free world. Sort of. But really, he's the host of this party and does a stellar job. If he dropped the ball ( I don't even know that he did) so what? Don't we all?
In due time we will all have seen the new Godzilla and there will be a whole new bunch of things to be unhappy about, if youre so inclined. And Chris, unlike any of us, will be there to take it ALL in. And shake his head and soldier on.
Sorry Chris, not to embarrass you!

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 8:17 PMI think another reason this is going on for so long is due to the lack of info about the film. If a trailer dropped today/tommorow/yesterday then this would all be old news (no pun intended) and things would be back to normal.

AdminSpaceGodzillaFeb-12-2014 8:39 PMI think all this hoax has done is bring out the true fans of this community and shown who the true trolls are. I'm flattered by your posts and I want to say thank you. I think this is the top Godzilla site on the net, not for how many hits we get or how many Facebook likes we have - but because of the users we have - all of you, the members.
It's like, this forum has filtered out the douchebags from other forums and we're only left with the true, level-headed fans to engage with - and I couldn't ask for anything more.
So thank you, for the support and for helping make this site all that it was ever intended to be - a positive coimmunity. Thank you.
