Mothra LarvaeMember0 XPMay-01-2014 6:34 AMOk, so I decide that im going to start making discussions just about the Godzilla monsters, and im not gonna stop until I have done all of them(other than zilla, because thats already been done). So my first monster im going to do is Mothra. So basically what i want to know is what do you guys think about Mothra, what are some facts about her that you know, which is your favorite version(from which movie), if you like her in larva form of adult form. So really I wanna Know if you Love, Hate, Enjoy, or are inspired by Mothra. So what do you people think about this Flying Goddess of Infant Island:)......P.S. I wanna see who can put the best picture of Mothra on here, I dont care if its a Figure or a pic off the internet, I wanna see a GOOD one...PLEASE:)

I think she looked best in the Heisei series, the Millennium series and in her first movie (especially the larva). She is probably one of the most famous monsters in the world. She may be peaceful, but when the world is in danger, she'll spring in to action and defend the earth with her life.
Also, would I be wrong to think Mothra is reincarnated every time a larva is born?

The original film is one of the very best of Toho's fantasy films and really set the lighthearted tone for the 1960s era of the genre. Her crossover with Godzilla worked much better than King Kong's and her appearances since then have typically been a delight.
Still... The 1990s Mothra Trilogy is like watching a cannibal eat your family alive: A truly horrible experience all the way through.

Mothra LarvaeMember0 XPMay-01-2014 2:52 PMMothra's a boss. Many of her stories involve someone being selected to save the world and Mothra only steps in when she has to. But there's only so much that a couple of human beings can do about a giant drill monster terrastomping the country (ex: tank brigades). Thankfully, though, her selected people don't tend to meet that sort of fate. She's a very reasonable monster. Her fighting style has a lot of biting and clawing, except in the nineties when she could shoot lazers and stuff, ad my favorite: the tail drag. Every incarnation has a thing for tails. And when she sheds her scales at the time of her death, although sad, it is one of my favorite moves she has. It can reflect energy attacks and puts a real stick in other monster's grill.
Mothra LarvaeMember0 XPMay-01-2014 4:58 PMThe showa series was a great time for Mothra, she looked great and the sfx for her were more fluid and convincing than even 90s-2000s. Even her brief appearance in Sea Monster was great. She just flies over to Godzilla, ***** slaps him over and thats the fight.
Hesei she looked awful and they tried to compensate her for a more powerful Godzilla by giving her lazer beam powers and lightning powers. AWFUL. The solo films , can't sit through them and its a shame that King Ghidorah in the third film ended up being my favorite version of him, he deserved a fight with Godzilla, not Mothra!
The 2000s were meh, I could careless. Actually she was kinda badass in Final Wars.

GodzillaAdmin5112 XPMay-01-2014 8:57 PMTeam GhidorahMothra's duration in the Millennium series was leaps and bounds better than her 1990s appearances... She looked like a plush doll in both the Heisei series and the Mothra Trilogy. Tokyo S.O.S. was the best Mothra had looked since 1964.
BaragonMember425 XPMay-02-2014 2:42 AMAs I've said before I find Mothra an okay monster, but not one of my favorites. I like the new breath she brings in by always being good and the ultimate light of justice while most of the others could be categorized as anti heroes to villains, but I also find the trait weakening. Sure it's nice to see that one is a generally good character, but for a character that's been brought back so many different times the story never changes. She's always right, always the winner(to the point her underdog status she had at first doesn't really apply anymore) and just generally all her movies seem very similar. Watch Mothra, Mothra vs Godzilla, Godzilla vs Mothra, and Tokyo SOS. All these movies include either the fairies getting stolen, or the adult dying and the larvae continuing the fight. I find Mothra weak after the showa series. She just didn't bring anything new after that. Sure they made her a guardian monster in GMK, but that's essentially the same role she had before without fairies, almost nothing is different about guardian monster Mothra and regular Mothra except the guardian monster isn't as strong.
If I had to choose a favorite version it would be the Showas series by actions she does but the Mothra from Tokyo SOS in terms of looks of both her and the fight.
