Howdy folks! Thanks to a recent interview with Randy Falk of NECA conducted by Toho Kingdom, we now have some super interesting insight into NECA’s future plans for their Godzilla toy series!

Here’s the first point, and it’s kinda a bummer unfortunately:

Mirjahangir: Will you be doing figures of enemy monsters, either for the classic or modern Godzilla line?

Falk: No plans for MUTO or monsters yet. We are limited somewhat in what we can do with the classic films anyway, so for now it is better for us to focus on all the key iconic versions of Godzilla over the past 60 years.

So… THAT sucks, at least on one level. No MUTO’s or Toho monsters on the horizon, but at least more Godzillas are on the way! Check this out:

Mirjahangir: Can you reveal anything about the future of the classic Godzilla line?

Falk: Well, we have three more underway currently – two are a little more unconventional or different than what you might think initially. You might see one more this Fall possibly as a Black Friday retail exclusive.

News of the three new figures under development has already been shared here recently, but here is an awesome tidbit worth freaking out about:

Falk: Also I want to make sure we cover the original 1956 version [1954 in Japan] no matter what – it is important to me that we can pay tribute to the one that started it all.

HECK YEAH!!!! :D

So to recap, no MUTO’s or Toho monsters coming up (aka: the bad news), but we are getting three more Godzillas soon, most likely including the 1954 version (aka: the good news)!

Here’s the link to the full interview: http://www.tohokingdom.com/interviews/neca_randy_falk_07-2014.html

So, what do you think?! Comment, complain, and speculate away!

After seeing what they did to my beloved Godzilla 1985, I'm hesitant to put my trust in their sculptures' hands.

I don't know... kind of excited, I suppose. That 1985 was not very good, and just as Duratok said, it makes me feel nervous about any other variations.

Plus, as much as I love Godzilla, I want more MONSTERS. No Mutos is a terrible disappointment. :(

I feel the same, and I really thought that they would produce the Mutos ever since they are in the Wizkidz line... but I'm pretty curious whose versions are the ones they will produce later on. The Going backwards thing, is about the chronological order of the films or about their preference over certain designs? If it is chronological, as the 94 appearance and the 84 follow up suggest, the other figures come from Showa series. But if is about their selected versions; here are my candidates:

Godzilla 95, for an unconventional presentation as they stated, it could show led lights and melting dorsal plates and/or face from the dead sequence

Godzilla 2000, for unconventional feature, simply imitate the Yuji Sakai sculpt from the unused design like the SH MonsterArts figure

Godzilla 2004

Godzilla 1962, when faced King Kong

Godzilla 1968, from Destroy all monsters

Godzilla 75, with the Mechagodzilla head (but the license is heavy for the budget here)

Godzilla 1954 with the oxygen destroyer capsule

One thing I noticed in the interview: Falk says the figures are done to have all the joints to be hidden from the eye, that's why the 84 figure has the chipmunk cheeks, to hide the joints in the lower jaw. I suggest to check the kaiyodo model kit in order to get a tip of how hide such joints

I guess I'm not that big of a MUTO fan because it really doesn't bother me there's no plans for that. I'm a little more irked about there being no Toho monsters at the moment, but in the end there are so many Godzilla designs that are unavailable as figures. It would be nice to have an affordable Godzilla from '62, '64, '65 and '75. There are plenty of Godzilla designs I'd like to have before getting other monsters.

The downside is, while Godzilla '94 and '14 looked solid, the '84 figure looked downright hideous.

I can also summon ancient Japanese demons to rob your soul. It's the button next to 'ban member'.

I hope they make Godzilla 2000 and I hope they dont disapoint like they did with the 1984 figure that would be a huge bomber.

When I buy a figure I buy it because I know its going to stand well on its own or with something else.

I can't see myself buying anything Godzilla 2014 related, be it Neca, or Monsterarts until there is a muto to go with it. The contrast of the new Godzilla's design does not stand well with my other godzilla figures, it needs more beasties from its own universe to stand next too.

I'm anal about that crap, but its just how it is. I'd rather have Muto than a goofy ass neca rendition of 54, a Godzilla design that has been done to death by figures, models, and everything in between.

He is 350ft Tall people, those things on his neck ARE gills, and the Brazil photo is part of the final advertising design-- Deal with it.
