AdminGodzillaSep-03-2014 7:42 PMIn the spirit of keeping the forum alive I've decided to add to the plethora of games and contests that have become so popular around here. This is a little different though.
RULES:
The Godzilla (and related movies) Soundtrack Challenge is a game where you listen to a 30 second clip from any given Godzilla movie and answer a select number of the following questions:
-
WHAT MOVIE IS THE TRACK FROM? - The question is fairly simple. Type what movie you think the clip is from. This question will likely be attached to every clip.
-
WHAT COMPOSER DID THE PIECE? - If you got what track the movie is from, you'll likely get this. Type who you think the composer is. (Edit as of noon, 9/4: If there are multiple composers for the film you MUST at least guess which of the composers did the piece. Naming all of them will not get you a point.)
-
WHAT SCENE IS IT FROM? - Explain the scene from which the track happens. Although since some scores get repetitive this question will not be present for every clip.
-
WHOSE THEME IS IT? - If this question is asked, write down whatever monster/character/military/weapon's theme it is.
Each question is worth one point, unless stated otherwise. Keep in mind, not all of these questions will be asked for each clip, so make sure you read the questions before answering to the newest clip. Also remember some of these clips will not be from Godzilla movies, but films from the same creators/genre.
The person who first answers the questions correctly gets points. If a member only gets some of the answers right, the next member to reply has a chance to earn points from the questions the previous poster got wrong. If all of the questions are not correctly answered 24 hours after the clip is posted no one will get points for the unanswered/incorrectly answered question(s). At that point the next clip will be posted and a new round will begin.
Multiple answers for a single question in a member's post will be ignored completely. If you create a latter post with different answers for the same round your previous answers will be ignored in favor of your new ones.
Test rule: AFTER A MEMBER GETS AN ANSWER RIGHT, THEY SIT OUT THE NEXT ROUND AS TO NOT MONOPOLIZE THE GAME. IF MULTIPLE MEMBERS GET THE ANSWERS TO A SINGLE ROUND EVERYONE WHO CORRECTLY ANSWERED MUST SIT OUT THE NEXT ROUND. The players may return to the round after the one they sit out.
If/when the questions are answered correctly I'll reply to the thread and announce the winner of those questions. The next clip will be posted at a random time both as a new post and in this original post. If I've yet to reply to a thread it means I'm either late or no one has gotten them right. So keep guessing until a winner is announced.
The member with the most points by midnight of September 30th, 2014 will be declared the winner and receive a small, undisclosed prize from me. Runner-up prizes will also be awarded. Scores will be updated periodically here:
Have at it.

MemberBaragonSep-04-2014 1:40 PMWell, i would join but i think i have everything that i could possibly want in life. Beautiful wife, a son, pretty much all things godzilla that i can get my hands on. So in all fairness, i think i will step out of this and let the members have their chance of this. :)
By the way great thread. ;)

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-04-2014 3:00 PMRound 3 Answer:
Gojira (1954)
Akira Ifukube
When Godzilla destroys the broadcasting tower.

GG
MemberGiganSep-04-2014 3:03 PMAlright i know i have heard this piece before.
Ok Gman im gonna go through a list, if i get it wrong dont reply, if i get one right you can reply!
Godzilla vs king ghidorah when Godzilal enters Tokyo.
Godzilla 1984, when he first arrives.
Godzilla 2003 when he first appears out of the water.
Akira ifukube or michiru oshima!
Good grief.

GG
MemberGiganSep-04-2014 3:06 PMWait not done yet!
Godzilla 1954, his second appearence whe he is walking to land!!
Good grief.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaSep-04-2014 3:22 PMGojira2K was the first to get the composer correct. He gets one point.
Natezilla10000 was the first to get the movie and scene correct. He gets two points.
Round complete.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaSep-04-2014 4:25 PMThree point round:
1) WHAT MOVIE IS THE TRACK FROM?
2) WHAT COMPOSER DID THE PIECE?
3) WHOSE THEME IS IT?

GG
MemberGiganSep-04-2014 4:26 PMGodzilla vs king ghidorah!
When ghidorah is flying over the city!
akira ifukube!
Good grief.

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeSep-04-2014 4:28 PM1) Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2
2) Akira Ifukube
3) Rodan's Theme
(Also, this theme plays when Rodan first appears on Adonoa Island)
"When man falls into conflict with nature, monsters are born." - Professor Hayashida, The Return of Godzilla

GG
MemberGiganSep-04-2014 4:31 PMKing of the monster, this theme appeard in Godzilla vs king ghidorah and MechaGodzilla 2 i believe.
Good grief.

GG
MemberGiganSep-04-2014 4:33 PMHowever its definitley Akira Ifukube nonetheless.
I believe i said that first xD.
Good grief.

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeSep-04-2014 4:34 PMIt does not appear in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. It is Rodan's theme. The theme that plays when Ghidorah flies over Fukuoka in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah is simply an updated version of King Ghidorah's theme from the Showa series and not a version of Rodan's theme.
"When man falls into conflict with nature, monsters are born." - Professor Hayashida, The Return of Godzilla

Durp004
MemberBaragonSep-04-2014 4:35 PMSounds like a score from one of the earlier movies with king ghidorah, maybe monster Zero or Ghidorah the 3-headed monster.
But I don't have much of an ear for music when watching movies so probably wrong.

GG
MemberGiganSep-04-2014 4:40 PMCould have sworn i rememberd that from when Ghidorah is flying over tokyo.
But now it does sound more like rodan.
Well i think i still got Akira ifukube right and next round i will do better!
Good grief.

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeSep-04-2014 4:41 PMThis would be the theme you're thinking of:
"When man falls into conflict with nature, monsters are born." - Professor Hayashida, The Return of Godzilla

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaSep-04-2014 5:05 PMThat one went by a lot faster than others.
GorillaGodzilla was the first to get the composer right. He gets one point.
The King of the Monsters got the other two questions correct. He gets two points.
Round complete.

1) WHAT MOVIE IS THE TRACK FROM?
2) WHAT COMPOSER DID THE PIECE?
3) WHOSE THEME IS IT?
(And just a reminder, multiple answers for a single question will be ignored. Guess each answer only once in a single post.)

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeSep-05-2014 4:28 AM1) Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
2) Masaru Sato
3) Godzilla's Theme (In this movie at least)
"When man falls into conflict with nature, monsters are born." - Professor Hayashida, The Return of Godzilla

Danzilla93
MemberBaragonSep-05-2014 7:31 AMGodzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1973)
Masaru Sato
Played for Mechagodzilla in disguise (kind of Godzilla's theme... but more evil)

GG
MemberGiganSep-05-2014 8:27 AMDangit you all beat me too it. but it was the theme for Fake Godzilla.
Masaru Sato wanted to improvise on the original Godzilla theme but make it more frightening.
Good grief.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaSep-05-2014 8:53 AMAll three points go to The King of the Monsters.
It was, in fact, Godzilla's theme. Specific to that movie at least. Played only when the real Godzilla appears.
Round complete.
